Terrible Conditions

from A TripAdvisor Member
Our double room had a bathroom that had no ventiliation whatsoever!!!!!

The large vanity light did not work in the bathroom area. The thermostat did not work. We set the thermostat and the room temp never went below 75 degrees. There was a humidifier in the bedroom but the suite area (which we did not even know we were getting) did not have one, had mold growing on the wallpaper and some wallpaper was buckling off the wall. We were compt our room and made an offer to move to another room but it involved too much with a little one. Unfortunately, to add insult to injury, the power went out the second night and we only had auxiliary lighting, no elevator or air for about an hour. The decorations were beautiful and up to date but a lot more work needs to go into this facility!!!

Upscale place at a good price

from A TripAdvisor Member
Me and some friends stayed at the Radisson in August 2001. It was a nice hotel and if you can score a good rate, it's well worth it. The rooms are a lot nicer than the economy-class hotels in Williamsburg, and the location is cool as well. The service was average; we were promised connecting rooms prior to arrival and didn't get them, nor did the staff even make much of an effort to accommodate us. As another reviewer pointed out, there is a Civil War theme in the lobby and if they covered up the painting because of the rebel flag that's really lame. Still, social beliefs aside, the Radisson is a good hotel. Compare rates here to those of the Embassy Suites Williamsburg, which is also very nice.

Insanity

from A TripAdvisor Member
This hotel has a historical theme - the Civil War, and in particular, the Battle of Williamsburg. In fact, it bears the name of a nearby Confederate fort. There are fine paintings on the walls as well as artifacts on display. An article in the 10 May 2003 edition of the Hampton Roads newspaper, Daily Press, reported that because the Confederate battle flag may offend a group of judicial employees from Washington, D.C., the large framed pictures of the Battle of Williamsburg were covered with sheets! Done so because, of course, Confederate troops were fighting beneath their battle flag. Pure insanity in the name of political correctness. I, for one, will never recommend this place to anyone.

Won't Go Back

from TGBTG
My family and I spent one night at this hotel because we were visiting Bush Gardens. We were asked to pay a $20-25 cash deposit on the room eventhough we had held the room with a credit card and paid cash when we got there (we never had to do that at any other Radisson hotel). The hotel rooms were outdated and the sheets were full of hair. When we went for breakfast, we found spotted glasses and utensils with food on them! The food was cold and terrible! Upon checkout, we were told the deposit would be sent to us, but I insisted that they give my cash deposit back and the clerk gave it back hesitantly. I'll never spend the night at that hotel again!

Fabulous Inn!

We have been to Fort Magruder Inn for 2 years now as an

anniversary gift to ourselves. The two-room suite is very spacious and has every amenity imaginable. It is a very quiet place to spend a romantic weekend. We highly recommend the suite with jacuzzi!
