Excellent hotel with great staff
Stayed for only one night but was impressed with the hotel. Excellent front desk staff at both checkin and checkout - quick, efficient, friendly, great knowledge of the area.
Hotel has fantastic beds that are extra comfortable and include sleep CD, etc. Bathrooms include usual extras for Crown Plaza.
Disappointed that wireless was an extra cost of $10.00/24 hour which drives me crazy since low cost hotels (Holiday Inn, Holiday Inn Express) include free wireless.
Decent cable television but movie selection was extremely limited the night I stayed.
Breakfast was excellent but I was surprised at how small the restaurant seemed for the size of the hotel.
16th floor seemed to be a quiet floor and it certainly was quiet everytime I left the room and came back - not a sound from any of the rooms. Not sure how full the hotel was so maybe that helped in keeping the hotel quiet.
Loved the service and detail to attention
My 3 day stay was absolutely great at the Crown Plaza. From the time I arrived being greeted by friedly smiling faces w/ a warm welcome to the time I left. The hotel is spotless and so very clean.
The staff is exceptional and very knowledgable. My service was superb. The one occasion in particular was the a.m. lady called Marlene (Marla) that was in charge of the meeting rooms. She welcomed everyone every a.m. with a chipper, friendly, sincere "good morning". How could you not have a good day after meeting her. She proceded to make sure all of the food and beverages were accomodating to all of us. She went the extra mile for me when she found out my Crystal lite was accidently tossed. I was amazed to find a new package after our break. I never would have expected that---and I really was not upset it was gone.I was simply teasing the leaders that they drank it on me and Marla over heard the conversation and hunted for it until she realized a staff person probably thought it was garbage. Which is so understandable. For her to take the time and the "care" was and is so memorable to me that I am still telling my family and friends about the sweet, kind, thoughtful lady that made my day better each day.
After lunch she gave us a great tour of the womens' wing and gave us some great other information about the hotel. She is a jewel--hang on to her.
The gentleman that helped w/technical problems was another great employee (Jim I think is his name)he was informative, friendly and sincerely of great assistance.
The food was fresh and quality everyday. I ate 2 salads everyday for lunch. Simply because I could not decide and they were all so great so I am glad I ate 2 every day.
Thank you for a delightful, unique, and memorable experience. Keep up the outstanding job!!!
P.s. I come from a hotel family and have been in the hospitality real estate business for 36 years. I know quality and I know perfection and how hard it is to get. I commend all of you for achieving that and truly knowing the definition of "hospitality".
Have a super-terrific day!!!
Not bad, but nothing special
Don't get me wrong, this isn't a bad hotel. I've been staying here three nights a week all year, and they've been ok. There is nothing that really turns me on to this hotel. The rooms are ok. The beds are great, I will give them that.
I normally stay at Marriott or Hilton properties, so I am probably comparing to their level of service. I'm new to the Priority Club, however they did immediately upgrade me to Platinum status which was a plus. However there are no upgrades or additional amenities for being Platinum.
If you have to stay in the downtown area, it is in a convenient location, and the staff is usually nice to deal with (there have been exceptions on the negative side).
Great Hotel - Great Beds
As a Platinum Member, I found this hotel to be very pleasant. The rooms are nicely furnished. I was upgraded to my concierge level, but the lounge on that level isn't open on weekends. I would like to see that changed.
I found the staff to be exceptional and friendly. There is a AWESOME sushi bar/restaurant and club across the street I highly recommend. Another great restaurant is about a 4blk taxi ride called Vincent's.
The upgraded beds they now have at Crowne Plaza's is the best thing they have done with the chain. I did get a chance to be in the Presidential Suite before I left. It was a nice room with a lovely conference/living area...but didn't have as much WOW factor as I expected. Would recommend it for those who have hospitality needs with a med size group.
I would like them to be a little more informative with the parking ramp as you can easily park out of the way of the hotel access.
Don't hesitate to stay here!
This is a great hotel!
I recently returned from a weekend in Minneapolis, and I can't say enough good things about my experience at the Crowne Plaza. The rooms were very clean, the beds were comfortable and the staff members were the friendliest I have ever encountered. The first night we arrived, our bellman John provided us with a list of bars and restaurants that he thought we would be interested in. Everything he suggested was within walking distance to the hotel, and his choices couldn't have been better. There is a nice sky garden on the 8th floor to enjoy an evening cocktail, and a wonderful bar on the first level. Every employee we encountered in the hotel had a wonderful, helpful attitude. The bellman, by far, were our favorite part of the hotel. Personable, funny and very helpful! We will definitely return to the Crowne Plaza!
Great location, most comfortable beds
Stayed a quick night at the Crown this past weekend and what a nice place! The staff was great, parking convenient and affordable ($8.95 vs. $15 if not in hotel). We walked to all the sights in the Warehouse District and just around the corner is a good Bagel / coffee shop for your morning fix (Breuggers?).
Crown Plaza has put emphasis on the sleep experience and the beds come with tons of pillows and a duvet. They also provide a sleep package with a relaxation CD, eyemask, earplugs, and lavander spray. I did'nt need them but they are yours to keep when you leave.
Thanks to TripAdvisor and other reviewers on this website which led me to this Hotel!
Downtown Location with pleasant staff
The Crowne Plaza Northstar was an fine choice for downtown Minneapolis. It is located 2 blocks from Nicolette Mall (shopping, dining). The room was recently redone and very nice. The walls are a bit thin which meant we were able to hear the college age kids going from room to room in the hallway during the evening. But for the price we paid compared to other downtown locations, it fit our needs perfectly. The dining in the hotel is limited so I'd suggest eating at one of the many wonderful places nearby
Nice choice for business or pleasure
Just returned from a three night stay at the Crowne Plaza Northstar, and was very pleased with the hotel. The common areas of the hotel and my room on the 10th floor were both in excellent condition. The room was tastefully decorated, about average size with ample closet space, and very clean. The bathroom was all marble and also very clean, it had a good shower and non-slip bathtub, with ample towels and nice selection of toiletries. There is also a vanity area right outside the bathroom with an additional sink. I have to mention the bed...it was one of the most comfortable I've ever slept in; I understand that these are new beds especially designed for comfort for the Crowne Plaza chain. Also a good selection of pillows - 2 soft and 2 firmer for each bed. High speed wireless internet access was available in my standard room, although it is not free. As far as the common areas, there is a nice outdoor Skygarden on the 8th floor to sit outside. I had a good breakfast each morning in the 7th floor restaurant, although restaurant and room service are both pricey. Also a nice bar/lounge area off the first floor lobby with friendly bartenders. The hotel staff was very pleasant and helpful. The hotel was located in the heart of downtown, several nice restaurants nearby and close to Nicollet Mall and the new Light Rail line. There is also an indoor mini-mall that can be accessed from inside the hotel. All in all, an excellent stay with no complaints.
Just got back from a business trip to Minneapolis. Stayed three nights at the Crowne Plaza. Great location close to everything in Minneapolis.
Woke up the first morning and had a funky shower head that was spurting water on me and spraying off to the side on the floor. On my way out I asked the front desk to look at it. When I got back in the evening they had changed the showerhead and left a note apologizing for the problem.
Good hotel for the price but bathrooms need a little updating to be a Crowne Plaza. Busy lobby bar even on a Monday - but a bit smoky! Would stay again.
Just got back from a 5 night stay. This hotel is perfectly fine for most needs. I was disappointed that they didn't offer high speed internet access in their "standard" rooms. Otherwise, it's clean and convenient to restaurants and shopping.

Reflection on India
India was..... great! I learned a ton about history, culture, life in a developing nation, and about myself. As you know, there were many struggles, but that was all part of the experience and that has given me a great appreciation for everything at home.
Many people ask me if I would go back to India, and unless I had a good reason to, I really don't think I would go ...
... the archives (which was pretty lame) and we saw the costumes and the Hollywood stuff and the grave site. We saw footage of Elvis as a young man and photos of him everywhere. We saw his “poor white boy” beginnings in the Tupelo museum area. And every area and attraction ended in a well stocked tacky gift shop....with the toxic smell of goods from China – poorly made, gaudily displayed and expensively priced. What was not seen or dealt with, of course, ...

Welcome to my Tanzanian trip blog! I returned home about a month ago, but I've had a quite a few people wondering about my trip. I figured this was a cool way to tell everyone about what I did each day! The first few entries are from memory, and the rest are taken straight out of my journal I kept each day. Sorry if some of it get confusing; so, feel free to let me know if something needs to be cleared up or if you have any questions! Anyway, here we go!
Day 9: approximately 325 miles
I'm woken at 5:40 am by laughter. The people in shelter eight apparently think that the end of Quiet Hours means the beginning of Loud Hours. The sky is still dark. I try to go back to sleep while my neighbors continue to laugh, joke, and converse at the tops of their lungs. I am not successful.
At 6:15, I hear something stomping around next to the cabin. I wonder if it is a moose. No such luck. A fat guy and his girlfriend ...
