Historical Traveler Reviews Crowne Plaza Hotel Secaucus - Meadowlands
So delighted we stayed
my wife and I came from Ireland on a shopping trip to nyc. What a hotel we stayed in.The crowne plaza secaucus meadowlands was a dream hotel to stay in.The staff were wonderful, the room we stayed in was so big,two king size beds, all the little extras. We had a great stay.Bus stop 2 mins walk from hotel will take you to the heart of nyc for as little as $2.10 each way, what a bargain!the people are so friendly. The only drawback is 'I hate shopping.'
They gave our reserved till midnight room away!!!
Dec 4, 2004 my husband and I arrived in New York for our very first time. I looked for hours to find the best hotel, "I thought", and made reservations a month pior. We called at 10:30am to see if we could check in and were told NOT TO WORRY, THEY HAVE OUR RESERVATION AND CREDIT CARD AND WILL NOT GIVE OUR ROOM AWAY. I told them 3 times we will be there between 10pm to midnight and asked if we needed to drop our bags by. Every time I would worry they lady reassured me our room was safe. We arrived at 10:45pm to find out THEY HAD NO ROOM FOR US. There were 4 ladies in front of me who did drop their bags off. They were reassured the room was still being cleaned and their bags would be put there when done. So there we are, 5 women exhausted from New York with no room. Management called a hotel down the street that was not comparable as far as looks and amenities, but their staff was great! I found out from management Crown Plaza was sending 7 more rooms to this hotel down the street!! BAD, VERY BAD CROWN PLAZA!! What has happened to CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!
This was my 2nd visit, and it was better than the 1st!
I stayed here with my girlfriend (girls weekend escape) Nov 27th, (one night) and it was a better stay than the last visit. I have to say first, the rooms were great for the price we paid ($55.00 per night), and so comfortable, we did not want to get out of them. For double beds they extremely comfortable, and the rooms were kept very clean. This hotel seems to be busy all the time, and it so convenient to the NJ bus stop for your adventure in NYC. We will definitely stay here again..I have already booked two dates for 2005, and got unbelieveable rates, AGAIN!!
This would be a FIVE-star RATING...
By recommendation from this web-site, I thought I would give this hotel a try. I'm glad I did. For a hotel located in the New York area, it is very good. One of the best perks is that it is located within 5 minutes walking distance of the 124/129 bus that goes directly to mid-town Manhattan, NY, theater district, restaurant, subway, etc. That was a big plus during our visit.
The service that the hotel provided was also good. However, I needed to depend on it a couple of times during my 4-nite visit. The first time was for toliet paper. After the call was made received two rolls within 5 minutes [A true test of service!!!]. Second, was due to the security latch on the door being very loose. After the maid was advised the service dept came up within 7 minutes.
This hotel is a conference/convention hotel and many people tend to come and go in the lobby. The staff seems to keep up with it although the wear and tear will show, here and there. As I was departing I took one elevator to find an empty glass from the bar on the elevator floor. Took another one to get my luggage and found the same in the other elevator alalong with an empty beer bottle. Advised the staff, and I feel assured that this was immediately corrected. That is why I am giving this 4 out of 5; only because it does well being a NJ near NY hotel but you still have to call and advise along the way. Yes, I would stay again for the comfort and convenience in the area but for the right price - not over $100.00 a nite.
Fantastic!
I am pleased to say I stayed at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Secaucus, NJ on 10/1 - 10/3/04
The hotel was more than I expected. The staff was FANTASTIC! The ladies running the front desk were professional, kind & courteous. I came to CP for a ladies weekend in NYC. This was the first of many trips we'll be making to NYC. WE (all 5 of us) know without a doubt, that we'll be staying at the CP in Secaucus, NJ. In fact, were making plans to head back up there next month. If you're planning a trip to the city --- this is the hotel. Why bother playing roulette with those hotels in the city? You never know what you're getting in the city. I would highly recommend staying here. The rooms were large, clean, nicely decorated and offered a pleasant view of the river. I just can't say ENOUGH about this hotel; great local, great rates, professional staff, etc....
I hope this review helps...
Great price,great location
If you don't want to pay the high prices of Manhattan hotels, well this place is great. I paid 70$ a night (entertainment card discount), there's also discount for AAA/CAA, seniors. The parking was free. Room was nice , had a distant view of Manhattan skyline .Hotel Shuttle takes you to outlet stores, restaurants in the area and come pick you up. The city bus stop is located in front of the hotel (2.10$ per ride) and brings you to Port Authority(20 min ride) in the heart of Manhattan .Don't miss the 10AM bus, because the next one is an hour later. The staff is very friendly and very helpful. My only problems with this place was breakfast was not included, since I pay so little for my room, I did not mind the 12.95 breakfast buffet. Also lots of meeting/convention, we stayed there 3 nights and they had a meeting every day. I was very happy with my stay and I will be back for sure.
Good service!
The hotel is located a bit offside there isn't much to do around the hotel except driving to NYC. Driving to Manhattan is time consuming. Next time I'll stay on Manhattan. The hotel itself is nice, great views of New York Skyline. We where upgraded to a suite that was very nice. I can recomend this hotel if you are going elsewhere than NYC. Hotel is very good for Newark Airport.
Great Place!
This hotel was a lot of bang for the buck!! I got the hotel at a great price on priceline and it was more than worth the money. The staff is super super friendly. You can take the bus into the city from just outside the hotel for $2.10, it will take you to the Port Authority just outside time square. The rooms were great, CP quality, very clean.
The hotel also offers a free shuttle to any of the area restaurant, they bell staff is more than accomodating. Beware, there is always a convention or meeting going on here, the convention area can be noisey and crowded at times. This property gets a BIG THUMBS UP!!! Request a room with a city view, but bring your bonoculars!!
Great Hotel
This hotel was a nice treat for those hoping to escape the hassle (and priciness) of staying in NYC. Very close to the action, free parking, easy drive to the Lincoln Tunnel to get into the city. Beautiful lobby, nice restaurant, COMFORTABLE and big rooms and beds, spacious bathrooms, and pleasant staff made our stay wonderful. The Spa Select bath products were fantastic. I'm still searching the internet as to where I can buy that shampoo! We got a great deal on Hotwire for $69 a night! Could not beat that deal for such a nice hotel. It was my second time staying there after a convention this summer and I plan to return.
Really great service
The staff here was super helpful. They had directions by car, bus schedules, metro maps and other resources available whenever I asked.
We had a clogged toilet when we came in, but they sent someone right up to fix it. Rooms were clean and nice and there was plenty of free parking, which is of course, great if you're staying anywhere near NY.
There was also a bus stop right across the street that takes you to Manhattan. For the price differences and the quality versus what you can get in Manhattan, it was worth it!
