... with a brisk swim and a night of watching movies in my hotel room... I am only going to briefly chat a bit about the TOK conference that I attended... as most would not find it so interesting... or "travelogue" material... A few quick words... The very best conference I have attended since my teaching career began... due mostly to my trainer, Julian Kitching... he is one of the gurus of TOK and with around 20 years experience and still a fresh perspective on the topics related to the ...
Kuwait City, Kuwait cotafamily4Despite the turbulence of its recent history, Kuwait today is once again beginning to reflect its status as an oil-rich nation. In 1990 Iraq claimed Kuwait as its 19th province, but the Iraqis were expelled by a United States led alliance in a short war in 1991, and now the country is separated from its threatening neighbor by a wall along its border. Kuwait City, Kuwait edward.panWell, there are more benefits of the Hilton. First, there are women in bikinis who are not related to the people at work. I didn't go to the Ramadan tent for dinner, but you could eat out on the beach. Now it is time to go home.
Kuwait City, Kuwait nahury1And with the Hilton being closer to the city, it is a quick trip to eat at restaurants up there as well. Back to the Hard Rock - a great deal - all food is 50% off during Ramadan. At least one good thing during Ramadan. Met up with my old technical manager from my chemical plant days. Wasn't expecting to run into him over here.
Kuwait City, Kuwait nahury1Our new home - ain't it great? Not only do we have air conditioning - we have better TV station channels, internet, and better restaraunts.
Fahaheel, Kuwait nahury1Went into Fahaheel for dinner tonight. Ate at a Lebanese restaurant located out on the water front. And a very nice surprise on the return to the guest house - the AC died. It was 80F inside at 8:30 pm. At least we were able to get electricians to look at it. But unfortunately ...
Fahaheel, Kuwait nahury1... was wrong and he said that Jazeera Airways checked me in as a Canadian and that he also had no record of me entering the country via Sharjah. I could feel my inshallah running out quickly as three other officers came over and started talking rapid fire Arabic. All I could think was aw snap, my luck is running out fast. I showed him my entry stamp for Sharjah and he wanted to know where my Canadian passport was. I tried and ...
Kuwait City, Kuwait atlpilot36... it off....nice. Its a bit cheeky to say that we 'went' to kuwait. we bummed around in the airport for 5 hours which was excrutiatingly boring...collecting dirty looks from people who didnt understand the 'post-it game' that we were playing. Its also strange how its entirely acceptable for men to just STARE at you, even when you meet their gaze in a way that implies you arent impressed,...maybe that isnt the way to deal with it...
