Day 22 - Gatlingburg - Tennessee
Oh my it really is hillbilly country here and the flag flies proudly. Today I headed to Dollywood. I think Dolly is fantastic so don't want to say anything too bad, but the word lame continually sprung to mind. Doesn't mean I didn't giggle all day long, but alas it was more at rather than with. One last stop before I bid Kentucky farewell and that was at Daniel Boone National Forest to see the Cumberland Falls. In 1775 Daniel Boone led a group of men through the Cumberland Gap (a pass between the Appalachian Mountains) to widen the pass in order to make settlement into Kentucky and Tennessee easier. I've been alone in this car for eight hours Right now I'm wishing I didn't buy an aftermarket exhaust because after eight hours I can't hear at all. Quick note - unfortunately, during our stay in TN, we made the decision that it would probably be better to delay our journey to Washington, D.C. and New York at this point because of pending "Superstorm" Sandy.
