430 Wine Country Dr Cessnock, New South Wales, Australia, 2321, 2-9315-9118
We got up early on Tuesday morning for an important activity that was recommended to us by Mel...a trip to wine country! The Hunter Valley is kind of like the Napa Valley of Australia. It's about 2 hours from Sydney, so we boarded a bus that specializes in trips from Sydney to the Hunter Valley and made our way to yet another beautiful location. We stayed at an amazing new resort hotel (at a highly discounted rate thanks to a last minute booking website!) called the Crowne Plaza. After a few ...

... cheese factory, luckily the rain just about held off but it was cold in the open carriage.

This is probably heresy but I was not very impressed by any of the wines which I tasted, preferring the wines of Western Australia which seem to me to have more flavour, but I was forced to buy a couple of bottled to while away an evening or two alone in my tent, in fact I sip on one as I write.

The following day as the weather was a little brighter I spent some of the day ...
Cessnock, New South Wales, Australia jatty... in the afternoon. One was starting in Tyrell winery 15mn later so we jumped back in the van and raced to the place! In time, we had a great tour.

The guide was really interesting and we were able to taste the wine at various steps of the process. Sometimes it tastes like juice and sometimes like Port! They even had expensive barrels imported directly from France. We got the full tasting at the end of the tour and bought a few bottles for us and for Sean's cousins who ...

Broke, Australia rootaberger... a lot. Needless to say, when we got home I took a shower immediately. I still have sand in my hair and ears that wont come out, and every so often I crunch on some in my teeth. My arms are almost impossible to lift and I'm sore in my fingers even. The weekend all together was GREAT. I'm sorry I wrote so much about it, but I wanted to so that I could remember it all. And now, I'm about to sleep for a solid 12 hours. Beautiful, right-o.

Newcastle, Australia worlds_myoysterSo I'm actually writing this entry a bit after it happened, but this trip was right after I arrived. It was the saturday after O-week (Orientation week) which was good timing, because there wasn't much going on that weekend, as classes hadn't started yet. So anyways, through an program that supports international students, there was this day trip, where for a very reasonable fee (like $30) they took us to a wildlife park, and to ...

You can still see the holes they bored for the dynamite to blast away the rock and also the grafitti they carved to mark their names on the road side. During the week following this, Stephen headed off to New Zealand for a trip. I enjoyed a lovely evening with newlyweds Chloe and Iain as they ...
