Travel Blogs from Hamburg
Landed in Frankfurt around 11am German time which was March 2011 USA
time for all I knew. I navigated my way through the enormous airport to
find my gate for the next flight and meet my colleague who drove over
from Holland. We flew to Hamburg and got there around 4pm.
Checked into the hotel, ran through some work emails, and …
When I woke up, my brother and I went outside and practised catching chickens. We caught one and I held it. My brother caught one too. We both had favourite chickens, mine was the red and white one and Basti's was the white and orange taller ...
For our last day in Hamburg, we want to go out on the town in Reeperbahn. This is where the Beatles played a lot and got their start! These three Aussie guys became our new roommates and they were fun. After a couple of hours hanging out in the room, we all decided to go out together. It was so much fun! We danced...a lot! It's been ...
... we were going to sleep in the bed near the couch but it
turned out the couch was a fold-out. It was pretty cramped and she
didn't have proper bedding for us (no pillow, no dooner) so it was a
pretty **** setup. Her place was small and dirty and I couldn't
believe she invited us to stay there. Oh well, can't complain really
since it was free and she did show us some great hospitality.
Thursday 12 Sept
Christine woke us up early and ...
... not the ugliest. Afterwards we saw St. Jacobi Church and now the churches are starting to all look the same. Then we went to the St. Nikolai Memorial. Welp, that's pretty much the city. Now, what to do for the rest of the day.... Michelle wants a DRIN for Oktoberfest, so we started to look for one. Dang they're expensive! The cheapest we saw was €99. Guess we will just have to keep ...

Historical Traveler Reviews Crowne Plaza Hamburg - City Alster
This is a good hotel. Bed was comfortable, breakfast was good, the room was clean and the price was reasonable. No complaints. It's in a pretty good location, you can walk to the lake. It's not too far to walk to the center, but you are not right in the middle of the shopping district, so you may want to take a taxi once in a while. The taxis aren't too expensive in Hamburg though.
They rent bikes also, which is nice, although for some reason they don't maintain them all - around half of the bikes were out of service when we wanted them, so we had to wait for some others to come back.
There is are some good restaurants within walking distance - we especially enjoyed Cox, Lange Reihe 68.
Really great hotel!
This hotel was really good. Typical of the group. I stayed one night ... would have loved to have stayed more. The bar and restaurant were both very good and breakfast was well varied. All staff were courteous and very attentive. The room was a fair size and had a proper desk and chair. I did think parking was a bit expensive.
Couldn`t faullt it at all
Nice location - lots of great bars and restaurants within easy walking distance.
Staff exceptionally friendly - and some English staff as well.
Breakfast was an enormous choice, one of the best I`ve ever seen.
The hotel sells the Hamburg Card which is very good value giving free transport and discounts on attractions. For our party of 4 adults it cost about 11 euros each for 4 days.
The room was typically `business` but was exceptionally clean and had blackout curtains.
I would definitely stay there again.
Very nice hotels in not a far distance to the center of Hamburg. Seven floors with a very nice atrium in the middle with a glass roof on top.
Great hotel, would stay there again
I stayed with my sister at the Cowne Plaza when we went to Hamburg for a long weekend. We paid 99 € including breakfast. The room was really nice and new, the bathroom was excellent. The breakfast was super, really worth paying for. The staff was friendly, and spoke good english.
The location was easy to get to, we took the airport express bus (110) to Ohlsdorf, and then the S1 train, changed to the U2 at Barmbek, and got off at Uhlandstrasse.
The main railwaystation and the beginning of the shoppingarea was 15 minutes away (walking).
Loved the hotel
We were a group of 4 women visiting Hamburg in February 2005, and were staying at the Crowne Plaza, sharing 2 double-rooms.
Convenient location, nicely renovated rooms. Very helpful stuff. Delicious breakfast buffet.
I can recommend it, it's worth the money.
Just a normal hotel form the outside, but very nicely finished inside. The rooms are just like every other 'business' hotel you ever stayed in but a recent refurbishment means that the rooms are immaculate. Leather chair at the desk, mini hi-fi, some really nice touches. Of course, giant German pillows too - you have to love them. There is a small pool, no good for proper swimming but relaxing decor. Staff helpful and indulged my rubbish attempts at German.
