Historical Traveler Reviews Crowne Plaza Hamburg - City Alster

      Posizione e rapporto qualità/prezzo ottimi

      from

      Good hotel

      from

This is a good hotel. Bed was comfortable, breakfast was good, the room was clean and the price was reasonable. No complaints. It's in a pretty good location, you can walk to the lake. It's not too far to walk to the center, but you are not right in the middle of the shopping district, so you may want to take a taxi once in a while. The taxis aren't too expensive in Hamburg though.

They rent bikes also, which is nice, although for some reason they don't maintain them all - around half of the bikes were out of service when we wanted them, so we had to wait for some others to come back.

There is are some good restaurants within walking distance - we especially enjoyed Cox, Lange Reihe 68.

      Grossartig

      from

      Really great hotel!

      from

This hotel was really good. Typical of the group. I stayed one night ... would have loved to have stayed more. The bar and restaurant were both very good and breakfast was well varied. All staff were courteous and very attentive. The room was a fair size and had a proper desk and chair. I did think parking was a bit expensive.

      Couldn`t faullt it at all

      from

Nice location - lots of great bars and restaurants within easy walking distance.

Staff exceptionally friendly - and some English staff as well.

Breakfast was an enormous choice, one of the best I`ve ever seen.

The hotel sells the Hamburg Card which is very good value giving free transport and discounts on attractions. For our party of 4 adults it cost about 11 euros each for 4 days.

The room was typically `business` but was exceptionally clean and had blackout curtains.

I would definitely stay there again.

Nice Hotel for Tourism & Business

      from

Very nice hotels in not a far distance to the center of Hamburg. Seven floors with a very nice atrium in the middle with a glass roof on top.

Rooms are very good for the 4-star-standard of the hotel, nice bathroom, most rooms have a desk for some work.

Price are very okay (we paid 89 € for one night incl. breakfast), car parking is 18 € for 24 hours (it is also possible to park right on the street, but there's hard to find some space). Breakfast was very delicious, really worth it's money. People in the hotel very helpful, gave us some informations about Hamburg.

So, all in all very recomendable High-Class-Hotel with good prices right in the middle of the town (just takes 4 stations by bus to the main shopping street and harbour, Express-Line-Station just 50 meters away).

Great hotel, would stay there again

      from

I stayed with my sister at the Cowne Plaza when we went to Hamburg for a long weekend. We paid 99 € including breakfast. The room was really nice and new, the bathroom was excellent. The breakfast was super, really worth paying for. The staff was friendly, and spoke good english.

The location was easy to get to, we took the airport express bus (110) to Ohlsdorf, and then the S1 train, changed to the U2 at Barmbek, and got off at Uhlandstrasse.

The main railwaystation and the beginning of the shoppingarea was 15 minutes away (walking).

      Loved the hotel

      from

We were a group of 4 women visiting Hamburg in February 2005, and were staying at the Crowne Plaza, sharing 2 double-rooms.

Convenient location, nicely renovated rooms. Very helpful stuff. Delicious breakfast buffet.

I can recommend it, it's worth the money.

      Excellent interior

      from

Just a normal hotel form the outside, but very nicely finished inside. The rooms are just like every other 'business' hotel you ever stayed in but a recent refurbishment means that the rooms are immaculate. Leather chair at the desk, mini hi-fi, some really nice touches. Of course, giant German pillows too - you have to love them. There is a small pool, no good for proper swimming but relaxing decor. Staff helpful and indulged my rubbish attempts at German.

... recommended but it was about 45 mins walk, it was hard going as it snowed all the way and I was cold again, when I got there the area was nice, just an old shopping area with nice little coffee shops and shops selling local produce and crafts, I didn't hang about as the weather was awful so headed back to the hotel and collected my bag. It was now only 3.00pm and my flight didn't leave till 8.00pm, I was at a loose end so decided to head to the airport where at least ...

... more time waiting for the green man to appear on the road crossings, people in Germany do not cross until the green man shows, I don't know what happens if you do cross as I haven't seen anyone do it yet, anyway I arrived about 9.45 thinking it would be quiet at that time, ok nobody told me all the kids were off school today, I don't know if it was a public holiday or just half term but it was full of families, kids were running about and being noisy, now I sound like a ...

... but I zipped up my coat over my chin and walked quickly to keep warm. There were dozens of joggers going around the lake all of different ages, nice to see so many people keeping fit and healthy. I walked back past the Hbf and went inside for a warm, it was very busy as always, it's the main hub for local trains and national trains such as the ice train also the underground trains stop here too, I have added a few photos of this and a short video, it's a ...

It's a early morning flight to Hamburg, 7.30am from Birmingham airport so up at 4.00am and on the road for 4.30am. I was a little worried about the weather as snow had been forecast over night, I only saw a couple of flurries on the way to the airport so not as bad as they forecast thankfully. Arrived at the Airparks at 5.45 and quickly onto the bus, it's amazing how busy it is for so early in the day, the bus is nearly full, lots of people with ...

      Hamburg

A travel blog entry by alexandrealynn on Jul 07, 2014

... I wanted to get on here instead of up by our strip club street. Apparently besides her host sister, I am the first person she has seen from MCC so that is kind of special.
Nina was telling us about the Mexicana shots that are a special of Hamburg, so we stopped at a bar and shared one. It was like a mini Bloody Mary. Spicy but good. She still had some time, so we walked around a bit more. Nina told us about how prostitution is legal here so that is why you see so many ...
