Crowne Plaza Hotel Geneva

The rooms and facilities were excellent; the large, clean pool is an added bonus. Location is convenient to the airport but not near restaurants or the center of town.

We stayed here for one night due to an early flight the next morning, Having read mixed reviews we were pleasantly surprised by the helpfulness of staff and found the hotel very comfortable and well suited to our needs. There were tea and coffee facilities in the room as well as an iron and ironing board, safe,hairdrier etc. We had a family room with two double beds and a view onto a quiet side street with trees. It was hard to believe we were only a few minutes from the airport. The leisure facilities are great-a large pool ,[sauna and steam room separate for males and females] with lots of lounging area and newspapers to read.The hotel bus takes you to the airport from 5am . If,like us ,you arrive by train it will take you to the hotel from the Geneva airport railway station which adjoins the airport. The bus is located beside the taxis, so just follow taxi signs.

We spent five nights in crowne plaza geneva and it was a very pleasant stay. It is 5 mins away from the airport. Its about 10 mins by taxi from belexar shopping center which has all the shops including a supermarket and a pharmacy. Its a walking distance from a bus stop where you can take to visit the geneva lake and other areas. Staff are very helpful and friendly. Guest rooms are spacious and clean. Bathrooms are very spacious with all the needed amneties of very good quality. Breakfast served at the restraunt was great. Indoor swimming pool is lovely especially on days with a bad weather. I would recommend the hotel for anyone going on a business / pleasure trip in Geneva.

I had to laugh when I read the review about this being 'the worst hotel in the world'. This is a vanilla hotel without any whizz-bang to be sure; but since it's blissfully cockroach free and the sheets are clean I bet it isn't even in the running for the most horrendous of anything.

We booked a room with two double beds for a quick family weekend in Geneva. The hotel is huge and profoundly unspectacular looking. Room quality is what you'd expect from the Holiday Inn chain (average but clean), and it's true that anything extra will cost you a small fortune. (The rather lackluster breakfast buffet was €34 per person; in room movies €23.00 each-- OUCH.) That being said, Geneva makes Dublin look like a bargin getaway. It's certainly a city catering to politician expense accounts.

On the plus side, there is a nice swimming pool on the lower ground floor that the kids really enjoyed. Very clean and bright, with a nice warm area to lounge around and read the paper if you don't fancy a quick dip. The location is decent for tourists...it's only a few hundred metres to the bus stop (#5 will take you to the UN in 5 minutes and city centre in 10 minutes) and a very fast few blocks away from the airport. As other people have mentioned, it was only a few minutes wait to catch the shuttle and they were happy to store our luggage for us on the day of departure.

One quick hint: If you do stay at the Crowne Plaza without the luxury of a tax dollar-fuelled expense account, there is a handy little grocery store on the Route de Ferney just behind the hotel (right next to the aforementioned bus stop). We had asked the hotel for restaurant/food alternatives in the area, and curiously none of them seemed aware of the cafes, petrol station markets and the grocery store right out their backdoor. Hmmmm. At any rate, you can easily grab some breakfast food or a quick sandwich from a half dozen places surrounding the bus stop.

The number five bus will also drop you right off in front of the UN and just down the road from the Musee International de la Croix-Rouge et du Croissant-Rouge. All in all, the hotel was a decent place to stay in Geneva, but it certainly isn't a destination resort or place to wallow in luxury!

I stayed here in November, great hotel and I got a great price.It was only about £15 more expensive to stay here than Holiday Inn Express. well worth it for the leisure facility alone.

Staff friendly and had a room with two beds, good facilities.

The transfer bus service to and from Airport to Hotel is excellent, well worth doing as Taxi's in Geneva can be expensive for short journey's to downtown.

The train can be used to travel downtown, takes about 10 minutes.

Good place to stay for a weekend

I stayed at Crowne Plaza for one night in the beginning of the year. The stay was comfortable and relaxing. The room was excellent. Very good bathroom and a big one with a bathtub and a shower cabin.

Excellent for travellers who have an early flight next morning. The shuttle bus service was excellent.

Stayed in the original wing for a conference from 10 - 13 October. 7th floor rooms have nice terraces, but the view is blocked by adjacent convention centre (Palexpo). Hotel is generally well run, clean and quiet. Staff is friendly and accommodating. The location is great for the airport, convention centre, and adjacent office parks, but about 20 minutes from anything else.

Excellent choice of hotel for a short break in Geneva.

The free hotel shuttle bus collects you from the airport literally seconds after you call for it! Easy links into Geneva itself (about 5 minutes bus ride). Hotel facilities excellent - where else do you get a choice of TWO excellent swimming and sauna facilities that are FREE for hotel guests use. Also, 2 above average restaurants, and we chose to eat there both nights instead of in Geneva itself. Staff excellent, gd English and extremely polite and helpful. Room clean and gd size, and view of mountains.

Altogether a real gem - gd value, high quality. Would stay there again.

My significant other and I stayed at the Crowne Plaza near Geneva airport because he needed to be in town for business. First off, I think we had forgotten how smoky Europe is and being spoiled by all the non-smoking bars and eating places in Boston, it came as quite a shock. The hotel permits smoking in the lobby but we had reserved a non-smoking room, thank goodness. Staff was very pleasant and arranged for check in early because our flight arrived at 7am. They warned us that vacancies were tight and that the room might noisy, which it was because it, shared a wall with the housekeeping storage room. We switched the next day to a much newer and swankier one than the first; a seperate tub and shower and lots of space. The rooms are nicely decorated and clean. Front desk staff is friendly and speak very good English. (Be warned that Geneva is all French...I thought that I would use my German alot in Switzerland, but no one speaks it in the Geneva area.) Food was shockingly expensive in Geneva, as were rental cars. If you can reserve your car ahead of time, that will help and Geneva sights get a tad boring after two-three days, so explore the areas nearby like Chamonix and drive around the Lake. The two restaurants in the hotel were pricey and OK. Service was better in the very expensive O'livio. The very pricey buffet breakfast was good, but too expensive to justify every day. Overall, I would stay here again, since one can walk 5-8 minutes to a bus that takes you to downtown Geneva, and the free wellness center was excellent with a massive pool, hot tub, turkish baths, and sauna.

Stayed three nights and did much coming and going so the free shuttle bus to the airport was useful, though sometimes I couldn't be bothered to wait for it, and walked instead, which is quite quick and easy too.

Rooms are large and spacious, and good quality as you'd expect in a five star, although on the older side the baths are not so fresh. Extra touches like tea & coffee in room, (with biscuits) were appreciated, especially as breakfast was so expensive, and not great quality I didn't bother going after the first day. The fruit looked like it'd been out for a few days, dry outside to melon slices, and only one or two of each thing on the buffet - very poor. Also the eggs were sloppy, the hash browns cold, and the croissants very unappealing and dry. That aside, I quite liked my stay. The staff were always helpful and polite, and they even got to know me and asked how I was, which isn't bad considering it's the largest hotel in Switzerland with over 600 rooms!

I ate in the posh restaurant one night (Olivo) which is v. expensive and serves wine by the deciliter (you think the prices are okay until you realise they've just served you a stain in the bottom of the glass!). Nice touch to have the menu items hanging off a tree on the outside. I went to the pool on the old side as it's open later than the new one but it's not as long so you're limited if you want to do lengths. Also you need to take towels from your room as this one is open to the public.
