    ... spied a sharp shooter up on the roof, although the Police told us it was a chimney sweep!

    From there we headed to the Washington Monument which was covered entirely with scaffolding and also had a high fence all around it so that we couldn't even get close to it. I read a sign that said the monument had been damaged in an earthquake in 2011 which was why there was scaffolding up. It's going to take until 2014 to repair ...

    We spent the remainder of the afternoon visiting the somber Arlington National Cemetery, the resting place of the veterans and military casualties from each of the nation's wars.
