    ... That evening, the hotel put on a free meal of pulled pork, chicken salad etc., plus free wine and beer. What a nice end to the trip.     ... s Memorial (our number two wish list item). It almost glows, the marble is stunning! Lincoln himself is awe inspiring and then you turn around and look out of the memorial to see the Washington Monument and the reflecting pond. WOW!

    ... about to fall off.

    Despite the fact that the train had gotten into DC about an hour and a half later than it was supposed to, I was still technically too early to check in to my hotel room. I got lucky though, and the girl at the front counter was really, really nice. She let me check in early because the room was already available. It totally made my day.

    So I went up to the room and took a blessedly cold shower. It was heaven in shower form, ...

    ... to go visit all of the Smithsonian museums.     ... we were so glad to finally get home at 4:11 in the morning and to see Melanie and Lily waiting for us. We were all very tires.
