There must be a catchier title for the means of travel but damned if i can think of it!!

    Wonderful, comfortable stay!

    from anonymous

This hotel is one of the best I've ever stayed at, and I travel a lot. The location is very central to everything, the staff is extraordinarily friendly and helpful without being fake, and my room was beautiful, large, and comfortable. The bed was literally the most comfortable mattress I've ever slept on. As a woman travelling alone, I felt completely safe here. The lobby is removed from the street, and the nightly cheesecake is a nice perk. I'll definitely stay here any time I'm in Chicago. Worth the price. Oh, and the room was really quiet, even though the hotel faces the El train!

    Loved it

    from anonymous

My family and I stayed at the Silversmith for the first time over Memorial Day Weekend. There were 6 of us so we required 2 rooms - The staff was able to put us in rooms right across the hall from eachother. They were so helpful and pleasant. The location is great! The rooms were beautiful. There was a nice little breakfast in the morning and delightful treats at night!!! (Mon.-Thurs.) We would definitely highly recommend The Silversmith!!!

    We loved it!

    from mdiv2001

A large, comfortable room; a wonderful bathroom with a whirlpool tub, the most gracious and generous staff I have ever seen in a hotel. Yes, there are some things the Silversmith doesn't have, such as a top-notch restaurant and a breathtaking view. But the room, the staff, and the affordability more than make up for it. We eagerly want to return.

    Friendly Staff, Beautiful Room

    from HLR1

My 9-year-old daughter & I stayed at the Silversmith for 2 nights. Everyone was friendly & helpful. They asked how our visit was going & offered both suggestions & directions. The room was spacious & we especially liked the complimentary desserts in the evening. (After a full day, it was nice to "hang out" at the hotel in the evening.) We will definitely stay here again.

    Absolutely wonderful hotel

    from anonymous

This was our first time staying at the Silversmith. What an absolutely wonderful experience! The staff could NOT have been any nicer. And 'real' nice, not 'business' nice. The rooms were so clean I was absolutely comfortable walking barefoot (how many hotels can you say that about?). The high ceilings gave the comfortable rooms an even more spacious feel. The decor was classy and sophisticated, yet still comfortable. My husband and I stayed there for a week along with our two small children (2 & 4) and it was such a great experience that we were all sad to leave. The only thing that wasn't absolutely perfect was the view from the room. We looked out on a very nearby building's fire escapes. But that really is a minor detail. We will definitely be staying at the Silversmith again. I would highly recommend this hotel to absolutely anyone and feel completely confident that they would enjoy it as much as we did.

Our second stay at the Silversmith

    from prussianblue

Our second stay in two years at this hotel proved that the first time wasn't a fluke. Our room was as beautiful and spotless as ever and the service just as unobtrusive and courteous. A short walk to the Art Institute, Marshall Field's, the Ford Theatre, and the museum campus on the lakefront means you can let the valet take your car and not have to bother with it again till you have to leave (sadly!) We love it and wouldn't stay anywhere else in Chicago.

    Absolutely Fabulous!!!

    from anonymous

This hotel is absolutely fabulous! Spacious rooms, incredible service and a great location was everything I was looking for during my trip to Chicago. My stay at The Silversmith exceeded all of my expectations, I highly recommend it!

    Great hotel

    from Woodbury_MNTraveler

I've stayed at the Silversmith twice on business. The rooms are spacious with high ceilings and very nice furnishings. Service has always been excellent. It's little touches like the free coffee, cheesecake and cookies in the evening that make for a nice stay at the Silversmith. The restaurant on the street level is nothing to rave about, but there are plenty of restaurants nearby. I've stayed in other hotels in the loop and my preference is to stay at the Silversmith.

Enjoyed my stay at the Silversmith

    from anonymous

I stayed at the Crowne Plaza Silversmith in February 2003. The room was quite nice and the staff was friendly and helpful. The location is fantastic, only a few steps from the El and easy access to all the attractions. My window was only a short distance from the El, but was well soundproofed, so I didn't notice the noise

    Hidden Jewel

    from anonymous

This hotel is located in the Loop, with easy access to many attractions. It is possible to walk within a block of this hotel and not even notice it.

The staff is extremely courteous. Rooms are decorated in the Frank Lloyd Wright style, with high ceilings. We stayed in suite for a rate that was the same or less than other downtown hotel rooms.

I would recommend a room on a high floor due to the fact the El tracks run in front of the hotel.
