Singapore

I was excited to come back to Singapore again. It has been about 10 years from my last trip, and it has changed so much.
On the first day, we went to Singapore flyer. It is a giant observation wheel where you can see Singapore skyline and learned about Singapore culture. The whole experience lasts for about 35 minutes. It costs us $30 (singapore dollar) per person. I really suggest you to go to Singapore flyer if you come here for a short period of time.

The rest of the day we just...

Stopover in Singapore

Singapore zoo is fantastic. Got there early and saw the Orangutang breakfast. Fed the elephants and had an elephant ride.
Botanical gardens were good but we were a bit foot sore from the zoo. A bit hot also.
Little India was very interesting. Bit overpowering but fascinating.
Saw Prue (Kevans) and Tim last night for a drink.
Had lots of interesting food. Megan is delighted! But has tried a few new things.
Off to Paris tonight. 13 hours on the plane!
Will post photos asap. Singapore, Singapore bobdonmeglaura

Hanging around

Hello everyone Didn't expect to be back so soon, but we now have a rather long wait before our connecting flight to Denpasar, and thought it would kill time to make use of the free internet provided here. I love Singapore already; the ladies on the plane and in the airport are friendly, as is the voice announcing the depatures and arrivals of the sky train who sounds like she used to read the news for the BBC! There is relaxing music playing, and free paper which you can stamp with various or...

Sunday 27th September - Singapore

Today we took a walk downtown in the morning to visit Raffles Quay and Chinatown. We took a route around the harbour and part of the racetrack stopping to take a few photos along the way. On Raffles Quay we came acoss a huge foo hawker centre and so not having eaten breakfast we tucked into a hearty brunch. After consulting the map ...

Day 0 - Calm Before the Storm

... a city that, no offense to any Hong Kong citizens reading this, was proclaimed by several friends and family members as having little to recommend in it. My previous impressions of Hong Kong, while positive, were a product of some coddled handholding back when I was a kid.

We managed to book the trip through the newfangled method of logging onto a travel website (Zuji, a subsidary of Travelocity, to be precise) and purchasing a flight and hotel package. This was also a cost ...

Hot & Humid in Singapore

... I think) (S$500).

In the evening we visited the Night Safari. Have never been to a zoo in the dark before. Lots of animals including bush babies, flying squirrels, fishing cats which were really active and porcupines. There were also tanks of Doctor Fish in which people placed their cheesy feet for a pedicure! Revolting! We travelled around the zoo by tram then stopped off on the walking trails. Had excellent food ...

Meditations on Peanut Butter, Feet, and Pain

... know if I buy that meditation is a way of getting to the unconscious level of the mind either, although certainly we do have an unconscious mind and it's pretty ***********trol what goes on in there. So, a *slightly more* scientific of looking at this is that Vipassana is a good way of training your mind to stop reacting with aversion or craving (or at least, not as often or not as strongly). If you do it over and over again with bodily sensations, maybe you'll become ...

Phuket to Singapore

... what was going on to him but do you think I could understand anything he said back to me? Of course not. Luckily, I had allowed enough time to check in but I had no idea where the airport was nor did I see any signs for it. At last, after almost 2 hours we arrived at the airport, me being the only person left on the bus. I was hopping mad! Suppose I hadn't left plenty of time to get there?? How dare they call ...

I'm going to try and moderate myself but that was never my strong point (I'm also going to pick up a bottle of tequila at the duty free, where I'll be able to find something other than bloody JC, so we'll see what ...

... places we saw, I really wanted the one we put in the offer for. It's truly amazing what **** you get for $2800.00. Our place is a three bedroom, 2 ½ bathrooms, full kitchen, a fairly large dining/living room combo with floor to ceiling windows in the living room. All of the windows have protective child bars on them for safety, so don't worry mom!! Two bathrooms and the kitchen have recently been renovated ...
