At last, the last blog from Colin

Hullo

My last day in Seattle was a Sunday and there was an American Football game in town, the Seattle Seahawks vs Chicago Bears. I decided to go along and have a look. After about 30 minutes of queuing at the only ticket window I was told the only tickets left were $94 - too much for me, I was prepared to pay up to $60. So I soaked up the atmosphere a bit, and the atmosphere was good - lots of people supporting both ...

... and cooked our single remaining tuna fillet by doing a peppercorn sear and serving it with wasabi and fresh ginger. We both agreed it was the best preparation, so I decided to put it on the "regular" rotation.

Chris was so tired, he didn't think he'd make it to the 9:00 gun, but he did (thank goodness--I hate to think how early he'd be up the next morning if he hadn't!)

We watched our last episode of "Intelligence", and it truly was the last episode, as Chris checked online ...

Roastmaster Extraordinaire!

... I'm now left to run the coffee shop alone for the evening shift, which can be quite demanding. I've been trained to roast all the different coffees from scratch, which is a skill I never expected to learn! I now have a permanent aroma of coffee following me around - the smoke gets everywhere! It's a family business and everyone I work with is very pleasant. Now that I'm finally earning a bit of cash I decided to sign up for a 6 week kayaking course to keep me busy in my ...

First Destination

... walk around the core of the UBC campus an reminisced and marveled at the amount of construction and development since our day there in the 60's and 70's. The weather was terrible, though, and the wind, sleet and snow drove us into SUB (student union building) where we checked our e-mails and headed home for warmth and tea. After dinner I took Nick back to the ferry terminal in absolutely lousy driving conditions. I later ...

The hostel bar is a bit of a hotspot in town so tonight will mark the first

Lots of local brews that are very ...
