In Cebu, I was once given a red carpet treatment on a writing assignment which got me face to face with the world famous seaweed Taipan, Benson U. Dakay. Weeks after that, I found myself riding a carabao in the rocky mountains of Bukidnon to interview peasants for a story I was doing on barriers to rural entrepreneurship. I relished all the perks of my travels, but have ...

He laughs at me because I talk to him and bring him a snack when I go to the grocery store. He said most clients treat their drivers like part of the car. Well, he didn't use those words exactly. I'm not sure exactly how he said it since his English is a bit choppy. He knows lots of English words but he has trouble putting them together in a meaningful way. That doesn ...
