Cold morning with flightplanning in the hotel coffeshop. Our goal today is to get as far as possible towards the east. We are planning the route just passing slightly north of Chicago if the weather allows. The weather seems is beautiful. Severe cavok. We are climbing to 9500ft and then head towards the great lakes. We land in ...... for a lunch break. With the courtesey car offered by the FBO we cruise to the next Mc Donalds in order to have a healthy lunch. A weather system moves just sligh...
Madison, Wisconsin, United States grex74We just finished going around Milwaukee. We got here around 10AM. We went to the Milwaukee Public Museum first. It was better than I thought. They also have the Titanic exhibit even though we decided not to pay $10 extra to see it. After that we went downtown to the riverwalk. Even though it is not as fancy as the one in San Antonio, it is still not bad at all. We ate at the food court in The Shops of Grand Avenue. Now we are leaving for Madison. We just drove by Marquette University and the ...
Milwaukee, Wisconsin, United States yigehaorenWe stopped by Johnson Creek Outlets. It's not totally impressive but I figured it doesn't hurt to stop by. We spent probably about an hour here and we are going to continue to Madison now.
Johnson Creek, Wisconsin, United States yigehaorenWe just got back to Crowne Plaza from getting Hardee's for dinner. This Crowne Plaza is being renovated, but in any case, they gave us a room on the Executive floor, and a free breakfast for one person so it was all good. Tomorrow we are going to go to downtown Madison and then it will be a long drive to Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
Madison, Wisconsin, United States yigehaorenWe are just about to leave Madison for Cedar Rapids now. This morning we went to the Wisconsin State Capitol. It is pretty cool. They got free tour too. Do you know that their dome is the biggest by volume in North America? If you are in Madison, do the free tour. After that we walked to Monona Terrace Community and Convention Center to look at Monona Lake. The wind was really strong! After that we walked on State street. We ate at Tutto Pasta. Their food is OK, even though the salmon was pre...

The weather was the story today as we traveled from Chicago to Madison, WI. Things were great until we reached Madison and then all the elements combined to make an interesting evening. But we weren't deterred. We walked thru the campus and down State St to see the impressive capitol building. Monday morning we took off for our end point of Mitchell, SD. Along the way, we saw farms, cows, and more farms as we drove thru WI, Minn and SD. Before ...
Madison, Wisconsin, United States lindasgibbonsWow, can't believe it's been a year since I left my house and moved onto the road. With hindsight I wish I took more pictures. I was in great places where I didn't document with my camera. Hopefully this next year I will be again motivated to write in this travel blog and take more pictures.<br><br>While I was in Madison I had a great time! So many good friends! I took photos of the Dairyland Cowboys and Cowgirls barn dance, the Union Terrace and ...
Madison, Wisconsin, United States sjandbuddy... a dry tank. We ended up detouring<br>around some local airport in an industrial area - a very 'interesting'<br>insight into Chicago's suburbs. But at least we found a petrol station<br>in the end. <br><br>Going through Chicago itself was fantastic. The<br>skyline is beautiful, and although we got stuck in brutal traffic for<br>over an hour (going at about 10km/hr) this will probably be the only<br>major city we actually ride through. But we were glad to ...
Madison, Wisconsin, United States bonthorn... All names to me before this trip, but I'm slowly piecing together the gigantic puzzle of this country. I find it interesting to see all the various license plates and notice where they're coming from. The furthest so far iIve seen is Colorado and New York. No BC plates yet!<br><br>At around 6pm (we crossed a time zone after having passed Chicago, so we gained another hour!) we stopped for dinner just before Rockford. Michigan. We ...
Madison, Wisconsin, United States bonthornFrom Roswell we traveled north through a tip of Texas. No photos but lots of memories of seeing and smelling cows in feed lots. We drove through a nasty little snow storm in Kansas City, MO. and I now know how well Shorty Too travels in the show.<br><br>Madison was significantly colder than NM, the lakes were ...
Madison, Wisconsin, United States sjandbuddy... allowed you to get up close to them. And they made funny faces by pressing their face against the glass wall.<br> Next I went and stopped by Lake Mendota. It was getting late and I had to get some supplies, which I did at Nakoma Plaza then headed south were I found a spot for the night at a wayside on 92/69.
