Great day. Warm and humid. Dragon Festival 3 day holiday made for jam packed venues at Red Square and Forbidden City and Temple of Heaven. History abounding. Carla, our guide and interpreter is awesome. Girls did well. Younger ones not as interested in history. Emma is. Emma helpful with her piecemeal Mandarin. Great Wall and other stuff tomorrow
Beijing - temples and numerology
Arriving in China didn't hit me over the head with otherness the way I realized I had been prepared for.
The flight was fine. As uncomfortable as one expects. Terrible food but good movies. We flew with the sun - every open window lit the plane with an extreme brightness. One highlight - we flew over Siberia, and looked out the window at …

TravelPod Member ReviewsCrowne Plaza Beijing Wangfujing
We booked this hotel using our Priority Club membership, & chose if for its handy location. If you want to be close to the centre of attractions, this is terrific. Walk out the door, & you're in Wanfujing. Staff were friendly and helpful, as expected of a Crowne Plaza hotel. As we had to to catch an early flight & leave before serving of breakfast started, they provided a take away breakfast, including a special menu for one of us. (Tip: Make sure you eat and drink the juice and yoghurt before you get to Beijing airport security or you'll lose it). The room furniture was looking a little tired, but apart from that, we had no complaints, and the bed was super comfy.
