Last day in England

A travel blog entry by wendymoz on Jul 17, 2014

Drive today from Lincoln across the Pennines on the motorways to airport hotel. All the farm lands now drying out.
Leaving now just when the temperatures are climbing. Never thought I would be glad of air conditioning here in England.
Happy now to be heading home, but slightly apprehensive of getting in an aircraft with all the news dominated by the MAS tragedy.

A day in the Medieval City of Chester

... windows. There were a few existing real Tudor houses built in the 1700s on the main streets and in the 1800s other buildings were renovated in the same style.
The third thing that people come to see in Chester is the Cathedral., which dates from 1093. Over the centuries the building has been added to and changed so many times. Three new stained glass windows were added in 1993 to replace some that were damaged by bombing in the second World War. They were ...

... this had on the Beatles. As a huge fan of Elvis' music (early leather jacket Elvis, not jumpsuit Elvis) it was a good little afternoon stroll listening to some great music, which was a nice way to finish up our time in Liverpool. A funky little city with a lot of heart and a hell of a music history. From here, we are hopefully off to Southampton, Until then - have a listen to your favorite Beatles song and put Liverpool on your list of places to visit, Cheerio - Jess and ...

Nothing much to report to day. We went into Leek a Historic Market Town in Staffordshire, to buy more plastic boxes, we just can't contain our excitement any longer(sorry I had to say that before any one else did). We arrived back just as the heavens opened. ...

... weekend so not to expect a reply until mid week.
For those of you who followed Roger and me on our aborted cycle-camping trip in France this summer - you'll be really glad to know that Roger is doing as well as can be expected, but the doctor has told him that it will be 4-6 weeks re-cooperation time.
My bike is not too well at the moment - just as Roger became ill in France the cable to my ...

The Crowne Plaza was a perfect place to overnight before a long flight.
The shuttle was available early and took us quickly right to our departure entrance for check in.
The rooms were comfortable, the staff friendly and attentive, and the lunch and dinner we had was tasty and enjoyable.
The proximity to return our hire car was convenient.
We would recommend to other travellers.

The service and facilities of this hotel were adequate for an overnight stay. I was disappointed that the price of wifi was so extortionate - about $35 for access, and they didn't give a free half-hour as most places do, which would have been great so I could check in for my flight that evening. The room was comfortable and had a great window and a nice view of the runway. Room service was nice and efficient and the bath tub was great! Only other thing was that the air conditioning blew hot air regardless of the temperature setting. This is a big hotel and really exists as a transit stop before flying out. Don't bother using it for any other purpose as there are nicer hotels in the city.
