Drive today from Lincoln across the Pennines on the motorways to airport hotel. All the farm lands now drying out.
Leaving now just when the temperatures are climbing. Never thought I would be glad of air conditioning here in England.
Happy now to be heading home, but slightly apprehensive of getting in an aircraft with all the news dominated by the MAS tragedy.
... we head out to explore.
We just got back from walking around the area near our apartment. We had dinner and the hostess recognized our accents and told us that she has family in Alberta and it turned out that our waitress was from Ontario!!! We needed a travel adaptor for the computer and met the nicest guy ever at the Apple store. He even looked up an ...
... We had no idea of how much of one until we were walking back upstairs and saw the poster on the wall enlightening us that there was a drag show on stage every Thursday night at 9:00, and Thursday it was!
We enjoyed a great night of drinks and movies and departed the next day with a great deal of plans ahead of us. We were a little bit more prepared for what lied ahead that day as we made our way past the rainbow flags and flagrant signs. We were both taken ...
On Wednesday the goal was to ride around 55km as this is about the daily distance next week. We started the morning by heading towards one of the parks in Manchester. We knew the park was on a hill but I hadn't quite mentally prepared myself for 8km slow constant climb. I made it to the top without walking! I am not a hill convert though I would rather go round a hill then up it :). After a while riding through the park we decided to head out ...
... at home with anyone else in the room. This time it was my niece and her boyfriend and his son. The only downside for them was to suffer through a long tutorial on bike racing tactics, ethics and history according to the Gavin brothers. The main event of the day was the ride up to Holme Moss that evening. He will stay there overnight to organize the bike storage at party ...

The service and facilities of this hotel were adequate for an overnight stay. I was disappointed that the price of wifi was so extortionate - about $35 for access, and they didn't give a free half-hour as most places do, which would have been great so I could check in for my flight that evening. The room was comfortable and had a great window and a nice view of the runway. Room service was nice and efficient and the bath tub was great! Only other thing was that the air conditioning blew hot air regardless of the temperature setting. This is a big hotel and really exists as a transit stop before flying out. Don't bother using it for any other purpose as there are nicer hotels in the city.
