... She has a superb view of Mt Barkerr over the water.
Bellevue with Microsoft was the next days personal tour of the area that organisation has. It's like a city within a city.

So today we left Seattle and drove in the rain past Tacoma WA to a tiny place out on the Pacific Coast to stay a couple of nights with a host family.
More on that in the next instalment ...

You can buy seafood, fruit and vegies, cheeses, deli meats and craft things, I had a good look around. We looked at the sculptures in a park which was on the nearby waterfront, where there where a few people out enjoying a Sunday in the sun.

Mom started her adventure by flying down from Fairbanks on Friday (She got the last seat on the 5pm flight - she is lucky that way!)

She enjoyed a weekend on Mercer Island at Paneen's, including pizza dinner with Kate and Ben, Andrew, Paneen, Jane, Randy, and a surprise visit from Megan Chapin too! She and Paneen both helped out at the Market ...

... the next underground tour of the city but missed the start time so carried on drinking. In the evening we found this amazing pizza place, BBQ chicken & bacon with ranch sauce on top OMG sooooo good! I also took Haydn to the hot choc treat shop where we shared a very sickly but so good caramel heart attack brownie nom nom nom! Our final day in Seattle was spent chilling, we went to see the famous gum wall & Olympic sculpture park then took a nice ...

... and canapés. It is also a chance to meet the ship's officers and staff. All guests who have sailed at least once with NCL receive an invite in their stateroom upon boarding the ship. They also had door prizes which were very nice. However, we didn't win one today. Oh well, perhaps at our next party later this week. We opted to go back to the Garden Buffet for lunch to check out the options available there. The selection was once again widespread and plentiful. One of ...

    Pass if you can

    from

Had a 3 night stay at this hotel via PCLN.

    Cons:

    Parking very tight

    Rooms need refurbishing

Thin walls allowed for noises to be heard in rooms next door

Beds are very springy and overworn

    Pool/Fitness center dirty and small

Charges incorrect on my bill for parking - $124 for a 3 night stay?

    Pros:

Nice looking lobby (but doesn't make up for inadequate rooms)

    Complimentary Internet

Front Desk allowed room change due to complaint with beds in 1st room

Consider the many options available to you before booking a stay here. Think twice before booking with PCLN or Hotwire in Sea-Tac area. PCLN considers this Holiday Inn a 3 star.

Horrible experience all around at Holiday In by Sea-Tac airport

    from

We had a cockroach in our room one night. And on a monday night at 9pm there was no hot water. The front desk hung up on us when we called to tell them about it. After we complained a whole lot we finally got a maint. man to check on it. All he had to say was "there's too many people showering now" Which is really strange for a monday night. I wonder what happens when they get really buzy. We picked this one because it had a 3 star rating. But I wish we had stayed at the motel 6 down the road. Because it couldn't have gotten much worse. The manager promised to call me back, but never did. I emailed holiday inn and all they had to say was "Sorry, please pick us again" Ya right! The building was bad, parking expensive, and limited, bad food at the breakfast buffet. All in all the worst hotel experience i ever had. And we didn't even get any money back. How crumby is that?

    Shabby

    from

We obtained this hotel through priceline for very cheap, and I was still disappointed. I was tempted to rate it only 1 star, but I guess I've seen worse. Nonetheless, low points included stains on the floors, shabby looking rooms and dreary looking halls. They were in the process of renovating the lobby area....hopefully they do the rest of the hotel while they are at it!

Fast Shuttle Service from & to the Airport

    from

My stay was Oct. 28-31, 2004. nice lobby, desk clerks tried to be helpful. room was very clean, nothing fancy....how about some ventilation in the bathrooms of motel rooms???. bar drinks were expensive, breakfast buffet was very good & reasonable, local calls from motel room ridiculous price!, glad i had my cell for personal calls. All in all this was a decent place to stay. Prices for soft drinks (in machines), bar drinks, local calls from motel room were my main gripe! If you are in town for touring only I would suggest something in downtown Seattle. I was in town for business & some pleasure & the bus rides & shuttles are very time consuming for touring. This motel is only convenient to the Airport, Nothing else.

Okay but nothing special -- a bit shabby overall

    from

First things first -- the lobby is much nicer than the rest of the hotel. (I guess it's like a bait and switch)

    Great place, beautiful atmosphere

    from

My husband and I stayed here with some friends in December 2002 and we all thought it was wonderful. The room was clean and confortable, the pool and spa were nice, and I can't say enough about the rotating resturant. This was one of the most memorable places I've ever been. The view was beautiful and the singing waitresses were wonderful!! I HIGHLY recommend this place if you're staying in Seattle!

Not as bad as it looks

    from

If you ignore the hallways on the way to your room, the worst will be over

My room was clean and quite, considering it is adjacent to Sea-Tac Airport. The staff was very accomodating and moved me to a different room upon request.

The only complaint I had, was no hi-speed internet in the guestrooms. Surprising for the tech capital that Seattle is.

I'd stay again if I had to be at the ariport quick.

    Same old Holiday Inn

    from

Rooms still felt old, even though were remodeled. The room was stuffy when we first entered. The front desk were not very accomodating or friendly. Queen beds would be nice. Shuttle to airport was efficient. Once was enough for this hotel.

    Great stay over

    from

I usually stay at one of the high end hotels downtown, but decided to stay at the Holiday Inn Seatac International for the night before flight stay over and found it very satisfactory and one of the best deals I have ever found.

    Near the airport...

    from

Stayed at the HI near the SeaTac airport twice in August, 2003, several days before going to Vancouver (for a cruise) and one day post cruise.

Accomodations were OK. Front desk staff were not all that friendly.

Being new to Seattle I actually had the nerve to ask a few questions about the city, and they seemed rather annoyed. The hotel was a distance from town, but very convient to the airport (and shuttle to Vancouver).
