The trip starts here...! 8 days of luxury in Dubai with my boy Liam being kindly put up by Owen (Liam's brother) & Nicole (Liam's future sister-in-law) in their 25th floor Zumourud Tower apartment over looking Dubai Marina. Dubai is pretty insane, it feels like everywhere you go you are surrounded by stunning sky scrapers in all shapes and …
Got into Abu Dhabi around 23:00 and it was 35C; nice. Was staying on Yas Island which fits my international playboy lifestyle perfectly.
First morning and afternoon was as follows - swim, tanning, swim, tanning, lunch, tanning, swim, tanning in the pool, swim and tanning. Temp got to 45C, damn it was hot I was sweating bucket loads, great …
... Taxi." Even the NY student who has been studying here since the fall said she had never seen one. It looked exactly like the silver taxis (the official ones you should take), same logo, but it had a pink light, and a woman driver (it also said "Ladie's Taxi" instead of just "Taxi"). It was a cool "experience."
There is also a mall really close (there are a TON of malls here), called the Madinat Zayed Shopping ...
... of him and his wife. We did and the security guard came over. He said to the man that he was not allowed to hug his wife and had to delete the photo. We just left straight away. Kerry returned her robe and walked away. She then turned to have one last look and a security guard told her to keep moving as she wasn't allowed in that area without covering her head. It was fine. They were all very kind about everything. We then left there and got on the bus again. We caught another bus to ...
... do. There weren't any more non-smoking rooms, so housekeeping came up (at 2am!) and sprayed the room. It seemed to smell better, although after about 20 minutes it smelt the same again. Reception called to ask if it was better and we just said it was. We finally went to sleep at about 2:30 (which was about 8:30am Gold Coast time!) We had been awake since Saturday morning 6:00 and it was now over 24 hours since we'd had a good night's sleep.
Sweet dreams - sleep ...

The first day we went to Yas water park in Abu Dhabi, with 43 exhilarating water rides to choose from this was not to be missed! The sun was blazing at 31 degrees so we slapped on some factor 30 and headed for the super high water flumes. Not being great with heights I was sweating as we climbed the mountains over steps to hit the extreme rides first. We jumped on a 5 man rubber dingy ride first which looked pretty tame from the beginning... how wrong could I be, this ride was insane! It was like a roller coaster on water and we were banking up the sides higher than cool runnings on a bobsleigh! It finally opened out into one of those giant space bowls and by this time we had really picked up some speed. Our dingy launched up the side to about 20ft in the air and then flew down faster than the guy jumping out of space. It was like one of them pirate ship rides from the theme park, such a laugh with 4 I your mates on it too.
The other pretty crazy ride was called Loop, it's another proper high one and at the start you climb into what looks like a time travel capsule. You're standing up right as they close the lid, press a button which counts you down, 3..2..1.. and then the floor drops beneath you. Before I get on the lifeguard says to me "this is your first time right? You won't forget this!" Nice one, just what you want haha.
He wasn't lying... When that countdown finishes you free fall into darkness at lightening speed like nothing I'd ever experienced before and then to add to it you soar into a loop the loop. If you have a second to think while you're shooting down the tube like a missile firing from a rocket launcher and wonder why the ride was called Loop, you know now!
