Crown Stoke-on-Trent

Just a few photos from our rather cold trip to the Peak District, which was a winter wonderland of snow. When the sunlight caught the right angle of the snow on the ground and on the trees it sparkled like tiny diamonds, so beautiful. Ate some gorgeous homemade food in the tearooms - yum!!

Due to crazy weather hitting the East coast, still not 100% that we'll be leaving on time, but all looks better than yesterday.

Booked into the Radisson just in case the worse happens - slightly better than sleeping at the airport i think.

November 2009 : Matlock

The plans for our trip started after we had sold our house in August. We planned to start our trip in Jan 2010, but when Alan found that flights were cheaper between Christmas and New Year, that plan was soon changed

On 1 April 2009 Andy and I returned to the UK to resume our travels on the British Waterways. We had bought out Canal Boat called Emmaus the year before and had put her on hard standing for the British winter while we returned for South Africa for our summer. The plan was to return to the UK in April and continue through until the end of August.

We left a glorious sunny Cairns early in the morning. First stop was Brisbane Airport, and we had to catch the train from domestic to international. This cost us money as we were flying with Air New Zealand who are not part of the 'Qantas Friends'. Still it was another experience and saved lugging the bags or catching a taxi.
