... Highlands with rather cold temperature around the low 20's which I was wearing a jumper all day in! The sun is a a lot more intense now we have got down into Malaysia. Back to McDonald's to email for him to come and get us and we were heading back in cool A/C again! Now Kota Bharu was our first city in quite some time. We went to pizza hut which was beautiful- the menus had NOT suitable for vegetarians, but when the staff were questioned they were like yeah, vegetables, they're vegetarian. We think pizza hut needs to sort out their language issues in malaysia! We also had fun walking around the supermarkets, department store, and got excited about seeing a store similar to superdrug. We had a terrible overnight bus ride, mainly because it was so cold on the coach, we were sitting at the front so could see all the traffic lights and drivers loud music so not much sleeping unfortunately! Arrived at kuala besut at around 5.30am and the bubu office did not open till 8am so slept on some benches like we were homeless for an hour! ... I decided to attempt the challenge that Aziz had mentioned when we first arrived - to swim across the river to a marker and back - 1600m in total. The record for the swim was apparently 29 minutes for women but that was set by a former open water course champion!
