Crown Daegu

This weekend started off with a successful waking up at 8.30am to get all wrapped up and comfortable for our trip to Mt Palgongsan. The weather was beautiful, clear blue skies but with an icy cool wind so Diana, Drew, Jessica and I met down town and grabbed some coffees and a hot chocolate before getting on the rapid bus up the mountains (we are not too much into the hiking thing). ... my response...hmmm!! The saturday i spend with two of the teachers in down town Daegu eating yet more bibimbap and enjoying the sun whilst shopping and generally just looking around and getting used to the bars and clubs that they have there...vital! Sunday then went with the director to see Daegu Stadium which is famous for hosting one of the games in the 2002 FIFA World Cup. Was hugggeee and beautifully set on the side of the mountain overlooking rolling ...

On Friday/Saturday Eric and I hiked to the top of Geumosan. We stayed the night on the second highest peaked and hiked to the top the next morning. Our hopes were to catch a beautiful sunrise over Gumi city. As you can see from the photos, we got just that. We had an awesome morning for viewing the sunrise. There was not a cloud in the sky! The 0530hr morning was well worth it :).

... much to do during the weeks it's overwhelming to get everything done. I feel sorry for them. They also complain about being hungry. I just got my first pay check so I think I will start bringing a snack or something for the late classes.

First paycheck! I am super excited to not feel so poor today. I bought a mop so I can clean my floor and a toaster oven. I bought some food that I am going to experiment with this weekend.

... really confused because the instructions said that the van driver who was going to take me to the train station was going to help me get a ticket to go to daegu, but he just left me at the train station so I was really frustrated because I didn't understand how the branch manager was going to know when I would be arriving in Daegu and I wasn't expecting to have to pay for the transportation, and I didn't have a phone to call and ask someone to verify anything, so i went ...

... Also, I have started and am almost done with a Taekuando class. This has probably been the most fun. Every Tuesday and Thursday a group of about 14 foreigners gather together to make complete asses of ourselves in front of our very Korean instructor. She loves us though, I hope. We are supposed to have a performance coming up at some hotel but I might have to sit out because for some reason I have a 12 inch bruise on my leg stretching from groin to knee. I have no idea ...

... seemed very small and horrid! It stank of smoke (as the teacher before me smoked!). My heart sank and I couldnt imagine myself in this tiny room for a whole year! Off we went to my school. It turns out Im in a private all girls school. All girls are interesting, but it turned out to be fine! All my co-teachers are so sweet and helpful and made me feel right at home.
