We got top and to the village of Diano D'Alba and stopped to look at the view. The village is set one one of the highest hills and on the site of an old castle was a great view point of the surrounding vineyards. Interestingly the northern sloping fields were full of hazelnut trees and it would seem the area is famous for the nuts.

We watch the drama unfold, as one of the drivers, an elderly woman, who seems to pretend to have a bad hip and plead sympathy, returns to her car. ... up the atmosphere of central Turin. Exhausted, we returned to the hotel and, to be honest, didn't feel up to facing the outside world just at that moment. And so we treated ourselves to a night in watching the only channel that was in English: BBC News.
