... the Ducal Palace (though why she needs alcohol when she is so high on art remains a mystery!) and then returned to the hotel to relax and freshen up before dinner.
Tomorrow we move on to Parma (famous for its cheese) by way of a four hour taxi, bus and train trip. The actual travel time is much less than this, but of course you have to allow for connections etc. Meanwhile, enjoy the blog and the photos ...
... which is really cheap considering what is in this place and plenty of lockers to leave stuff in. Joy, being aware of how hot she gets in most galleries while she is writing her notes, divested of her coat, hat, gloves and thick aran cardigan and placed them carefully in the locker with her DSLR camera just carrying in handbag and tablet. A nice set of stairs to the first floor greets one on entry - love galleries in Italy, they are designed to keep line fit! ...
... a good menu of local dishes, and very reasonably priced: three courses, plus wine, dessert and coffee, came to 41.50, and could not have been faulted. We reckon on going back there tomorrow.
Speaking of which, that will be our last chance to visit the town's National Gallery, which has been closed for the holiday so far. Hopefully it will be open tomorrow, as it has several paintings by Joys boyfriends and it is in the beautiful and historic Ducal ...
... we seemed to be the only non nationals and the oldest people there...what harm....we were out to have fun and enjoy the experience and we double checked the menu as to what we fancied. ... eventually arrived at Maria’s place and had a nice lunch of mushroom risotto and prawns & salad. After loads of talking we then went up to Patrizia’s place. This is her daughter who has the penthouse apartment on the top floor. She has inherited a lot of buildings/apartments from him and now is a property manager and according to Umbertino she is very wealthy. We had a nice coffee and grappa made of Cedra which is some sort of yummy citron fruit. After that ...
