    ... only three months and then he resigned under pressure and died soon after. He was found later to have a hole in his skull.     Had a real sleep-in. Woke at 7.30!! Breakfast and then packing for the next adventure. This has been a wonderful few days. The hotel is excellent and the view is truly spectacular. Our room 214 with a huge balcony was the pick of the bunch. While I was blogging a big gull settled on a post next to me. We shopped some more then departed at 12 noon. Quite sad for me.

    On Easter Monday we had arranged a day of truffle-hunting in the mountains with Mac and family from Wild Foods Italy. Mac picked us up at 9:30 and we headed out to his wife's family farm about 40 minutes from Spoleto in the small village of Pettino, which sits at an elevation of about 1000m. Although sunny, the chilly morning was a contrast to the previous week, and there was fresh snow on the peaks of the Apennine mountains around us.

    ... we are in the minority on that one! He donated his services, and another region donated the money and materials to construct the building which is a “concert hall”….but rather small for its purpose. Pierangelo tells us tickets sell out FAST, because there are so few seats.

    From here, we walked around the old “centro storico”; or historic town of L’Aquila. SO very, VERY sad to see SO MUCH ...
