... zip lining down from the buildings surrounding the plaza, fantastic marching bands and igniting small explosives. Apparently they informed the crowd that they were igniting the explosives but in Spanish, so we didn´t have a clue until the explosions went off (15 feet away from us). It was pretty startling to say the least!

Visit to the Quiet Town of Arequipa & Colca Canyon
... of going up and down mountains and when I say mountains I mean HUGE mountains with the highest stop for our tour bus being 16,800 feet above sea level. We had a 2 hour drive and observed the wild llama of Peru and herds of owned Alpaca and Llama herds. One herd was heading across the road when we were stopped. It was a pretty funny sight to see! We also stopped in Yanque, Peru to visit a beautiful old church. We were able to take photos here!

Arequipa & Colca-Canon
... verdient. Den kompletten Nachmittag entspannten wir am türkisblauen Pool und genossen die strahlende Sonne unter Palmen. Das war auch nötig, weil am dritten Morgen gings bereits um 5 Uhr los zum letzten, dafür steilsten Anstieg wieder hinauf zum Ausgangspunkt.
Nun stürzen wir uns ins (noch mehr) touristenüberladene Cusco, weil das ja der Ausgangspunkt zum absoluten MUSS Machu Picchu ist. Wir sind sehr gespannt...

TRIP TO AREQUIPA
... if the Choir guy had paid in advance for all of that luggage and the boxes for the airplane. He assured me that it was all clear. So, we get to the airport, with 26 pieces of luggage, including 6 huge boxes of "old clothes and junk toys", and sure enough, we are overweight. Significantly. I vote that we leave the boxes there, but Rick and the social worker said that it "would look bad to the children" because their host families ...

... over onze avonturen in Australie en zij geven ons een goede tip voor een tour door de jungle in Bolvia vanuit La Paz naar Rurrenabaque waarbij je twee dagen naar beneden fietst en vervolgens drie dagen met een boot door de jungle vaart en in tentjes slaapt. Die onthouden we!
Om toch een beetje op ons budget te letten maken we de volgende dag ons ontbijt zelf met een lekker broodje ham, kaas, ei, tomaat en avocado. De avocado kost hier werkelijk niks en is nergens ...
