    ... tour and it was closing in half an hour so we missed out.     The clouds hadn't lifted this morning; in fact we now had steady rain as we drove to Venice. We arrived at 10.30 and boarded a launch that took us around to St Marks Square. We were all huddled inside, wet umbrellas abounded, trying to catch a glimpse of Venice through wet and foggy windows- not a promising start! We met our local guide who explained that due to the combination of rain and a exceptionally high tide, St Marks Square was flooded and so ...
