... seen before, or an apple tart glistening in the window.
And then the supermarkets and local farmers markets laden with local wines, hams, pears, peaches, nectarines and melons.
Picnics in our cosy apartment have been the order of each day - sampling the local treats.
meals in cafés and restaurants have just been the icing on the cake!

Would we come back to Lyon? - definitely.

Such a lovely morning that we delay setting off and have a potter around Besancon. It is a really charming town and we will definitely come back again. ... courtyard which is surrounded by the four houses that comprise of Cour des Loges. We started with cocktails in the Bar, mine a 'Tommy Margurita', and Ray an 'Old Honey' (a bourbon VSOP cognac blended with honey). We then took our seats in the restaurant at 7.45pm, & as it was still daylight, it was well lit but as the sun set after 9.30pm it became a romantic candlelit space. With time running a little short we decide to eat there — many of the restaurants in the complex are quite pricey, but we find a reasonable one and get ourselves a good corner seat despite it being almost impossibly busy. Yalini only feels like a salade Lyonnaise, but I opt for (sorry vegetarians, I'm giving up the advance warnings) a plate of six juicy fat escargots and another tartare de boeuf.
