    ... ride of 8000+ feet above Colorado Springs took 1.5 hours. We learned that last week dropped 36" on the mountain, and we saw more and more evidence of that as we climbed. About 3PM we topped at the Observation Area for refreshments.

    When we got to the top, the temperature was 38 degrees and it was hailing. This for some reason struck me as very funny--perhaps because it was so unexpected. Rain, sure.
