    ... also possible to hike the Barr Trail that climbs some 7,000 feet over 13 miles to the summit That was definitely out of our league, but thousands of hardy travelers make that trek each year!

    We had reservations on the 9 a.m. train, but changed them to the afternoon train when we awoke to a steady rainfall and thick cloud cover. That gave us time to drive into Colorado Springs where we enjoyed breakfast at Mountain Shadows Restaurant, a quaint family-owned establishment.

    valleys. From the top the view was unbelievably beautiful, and being a clear day we could see a fantastic distance, even though it was cold we stood there transfixed by the beauty. After returning to the depot we drove throughthe quant town of Manitou Springs, which is a thriving community of stores and restaurants. We then returned to thecamper. This was definitely a day to remember.

    ... to swerve a lot more due to crosswinds (or more logically the crosswinds were very strong... whatever!). Once we had driven thriugh Denver and were on our way towards Wyoming, the weather took a turn for the worse. It started with a bit of a drizzle, which turned into light rain, and ended up with a mile or two of heavy rainsuch that the windscreen wipers couldn't clear it quick enough, and we had to slow down to 60 mph ...

Leslie stayed there and it looked so beautiful and I found a deal where you get 25% off if you stayed 3 nights which brought it more into my price range but I am not sure it offers the amenities we could use…like a laundry which I need ridiculously bad.
