... it had started to come down a little hard. However when we arrived back at the pantry the sum was out again making a perfect setting for the gazebo pictures. The north pole, santa's workshop was next in the agenda. It cost $18 each to enter and that included all the rides. It is a cashless park so they give you cards ( like old library cards) and all the venders and shops write down what you have brought. A travel blog entry by byramroadtrips on Jul 08, 2013

We got a relatively early start in the morning, and made a quick stop at the drugstore in Durango for supplies and then hit the road. Beautiful drive through southern Colorado passing through Wolf's Creek Pass and the continental divide. Almost ran out of gas, and stressed a bit when we drove for miles with "0 miles to empty" along roads that forbid any stopping, and finally found a gas station only to pull over and discover they were out of ...

... I am mad because we wasted 45 minutes and we could have made it if we had gas but Jym was convinced it would have been closed if we got there when we did. Who knows. It takes about an hour to get up the mountain they say and Jym thinks that by the time we would have driven up it would have closed. So we do the drive anyway (since we paid…no choice) and we get to 13 and they have the road shut down!! WTF?? So we sat in the rain ...
