    ... area to stay as we got rid of all of the young people with backpacks that were begging for money - likely to purchase another hit of pot or worse. The older transient population was sleeping in some of the down town parks which made them a bit uncomfortable to walk through - but there were people walking their dogs and so we felt safe with them being around.
    Today we returned our rental car and are heading to Mexico City for the next few days.

    ... after an exciting afternoon at the laundromat!!! Deciding to brave the local streets in search of food, we eventually came across an American / Latin restaurant. It was a "quaint" local establishment and the hostess was a delight. Our highlight however was that the restaurant door was locked at all times. Obviously they had also heard the neighbourhood was dodgy!!!!!! Needless to say we have survived our walk into the dark side of the Mission District and will live to see another day in ...

    ... the Mission area by train to ready ourselves for a big night out. Had a quick sushi dinner and were joined by Kates friends Anna and Sam. Then up to the sky deck in the apartment building adjacent to Kates for a wine and a look at the San Francisco night lights view before proceeding to the Boom Boom Room on Fillmore for live music, got home around 2 am .......too late for old folk like us ...
