Just as we were leaving the outskirts of Livingstone we reached the police checkpoint and had to pay to leave, just Kw20,000. The 2 hour evening boat cruise leaving at 4 pm again did not provide us with a good view of the hippos - too far away and bad lighting so ... no hippo photo shot with the mouth wide open. I did see one hippo on a far bank yawning though. Saw a couple of large herds of elephants so all was not lost. These are animals living in their natural habit so this is what we are to expect. They are not preforming animals ....

... but the best thing was getting to listen to them communicate to one another. They toot their trunks but also communicate through stomach gurgles and touch. It was fascinating!<br><br> We saw the sunset as we cruised along the river and Rocko and I had some wine while we watched it go down.
