We all assemble bleary eyed at the lounge of the hotel. It's 5:45 am and we are going on our last game drive! Our driver is Percy who is a local guide, born in Kasane. We head into Chobe national park, the roads are sandy and bumpy just like our last game drive. We see a big family of baboons, more elephants, hippos, impalas, giraffes and mongooses …
The drive to Mowana Lodge in Kasane is only 180 km but 100 km of the trip is on sand and gravel road. We are riding in open air land rover vehicles, the sand and dust flying around us. This was not a pleasant drive! It also did not help that one of our travel mates was sick ... We finally arrive at the end of the delta and the start of paved roads …
We started out on the evening cruise in hot sunny weather. We saw the usual, including 3 elephant sightings along the river.
At the far end of the cruise a torrential thunderstorm blew up. High winds, lightning and thunder all around us, whitecaps, torrential rains. Chairs blowing around, lifejackets overboard. One huge crack of …

We went on an early morning game drive. Saw mongooses, elephants, lots of birds etc. After a huge breakfast when we returned, most of the group rested in their air conditioned rooms.

Peter suggested the title for todays blog. "a glimpse of heaven". I like his title but think I must change it to glimpses. There was the landscape around Victoria Falls, Victoria Falls itself, and especially the cold cold beer at the cafe after our hike around the Falls( probably my favourite glimpse.) Boy I just inhaled it in this heat.

TravelPod Member ReviewsCresta Mowana Safari Resort And Spa Kasane
4 stars is generous but it is based on location, rooms and food.
Don't bother to read the Cresta Creeds displayed prominently in the lobby because 80% of the staff haven't read them either.
And 80% of the people in the lobby are trying to get onto the much touted free wifi - there's none to be had between 07:30 and 19:00.
This could be a five star with very small changes by management
