4 stars is generous but it is based on location, rooms and food.

Don't bother to read the Cresta Creeds displayed prominently in the lobby because 80% of the staff haven't read them either.

And 80% of the people in the lobby are trying to get onto the much touted free wifi - there's none to be had between 07:30 and 19:00.

This could be a five star with very small changes by management

We all assemble bleary eyed at the lounge of the hotel. It's 5:45 am and we are going on our last game drive! Our driver is Percy who is a local guide, born in Kasane. The drive to Mowana Lodge in Kasane is only 180 km but 100 km of the trip is on sand and gravel road. We are riding in open air land rover vehicles, the sand and dust flying around us. This was not a pleasant drive! It also did not help that one of our travel mates was sick ... We finally arrive at the end of the delta and the start of paved roads …

Mwandi village was slightly bigger than expected, although still small. The long sleepy high street had a variety of shops (not what you necessarily call a shop..!) from a welding shop to a car wash and barbers. It was a great experience to wonder round and experience authentic, traditional Zambia. The project phase of the expedition can be a bit of a disappointment but, having finished this one, it felt like the team really made a difference. The project was a ...
