River safari on the Chobe river. Some photos are out of order but will fix up later.

4 stars is generous but it is based on location, rooms and food.

Don't bother to read the Cresta Creeds displayed prominently in the lobby because 80% of the staff haven't read them either.

And 80% of the people in the lobby are trying to get onto the much touted free wifi - there's none to be had between 07:30 and 19:00.

This could be a five star with very small changes by management

The Big 5 animals that people hope to see in Africa are: Lion, African Buffalo. Leopard, Rhino and Elephant. Why these animals, you might ask? In the past these had been selected as the biggest predators that hunters might want to hunt and the list has stuck, although now people usually hunt them with a camera. We "collected" three of the Big 5 …

It was nice weather for an early morning start, with sunshine and 70 degrees. Left the dock at 6:35am and went downstream to the Rapids, which were nothing at all, though we could hear the falls a little further away. If we continued on the river, and survived the falls, we would end up in Zimbabwe and on our way to Victoria Falls.

Left the dock at 6:30am. Had coffee tea and biscuits on the river. Startled a croc, saw Fish Eagles, kingfishers and buffalo crossing the river. Temp was cool but not cold with a light windbreaker on the river. The buffalo were nervous crossing to the point where the large croc had been waiting earlier . He lost his vantage point when he went after …

Today 4 Australians joined us for our return trip to Jo'burg via Botswana. A short drive to the border for more formalities and a short ferry crossing. The ferry takes 1 lorry at a time so heaven knows when all the lorries stacked up are going to get across. Thankfully tourists fare better. It was only a 10 minute drive to our accommodation by the river and next to the ...
