We left Reno after a quick oil change and made great time all the way to Oregon. We met up with Brodie and traveled for a couple hours before finding a stop to camp at low altitude before our trip to Crater lake.
We have a beautiful spot, located right on the Rogue River. Amazingly it is in cell range - thus this quick update.
Off to cook hamburgers on the fire - cold beer in hand.
... traveled over the dirt road for a while but all we could find were hiking trails, we think the reservoir is long gone. We came the back roads and noticed that there were a lot of cattle and horse ranches and apple and pear orchards (I guess for Harry and David) and of course winery's. It seems like everyone outside of town has gates onto their property. Washed the dirty car for the 3rd time since this campground allowed washing!! Time to get ready for the next ...
... country as many times as he did with his 9 kids...it wasn't always smooth sailing or glorious conditions, but ue had his family (and toolbox) by his side and I think he was a better person for the experiences he had. And oh the memories!! I have my own, but I continue hearing more about the ones I wasn't around yet to experience! Thank you Grampa for giving me the desire for the open road. I look forward to passing down the legacy!!

We left the log house and joined the Avenue of the Giants travelling along the original US route 101. First up was a brief stop at the Visitors Centre which had some excellent displays of both the man made and natural history of the area
