      ... Islands are now forested with no inhabitants except for 1, but come with a rich history of survivalists who tried to live thru the grueling 4-5 winter months.       Today was the day to see Madeline Island, the largest island of the 22 Apostle Islands. Madeline Island is 14 miles long and 3 miles wide and the town of La Pointe, 1834, is on the island.       ... the islands on Monday. This was a nice 3 hour cruise going around most of islands and several lighthouses. We also went by Devils Island which is the northernmost point of Wisconsin. Tomorrow we are taking a ferry over to the largest of the Apostle Islands, Madeline. There is a state park on the island with hiking to several sea caves and beautiful shorelines.

      After a good nights sleep we started on the road to cover some serious miles. Made good time all the way up to the chequamegon national forest where we were met with MANY challenges to include log jumping, water crossing, steep up hill and down hill slopes, washed out roads, swampy trails and........
