... in one (or I guess two) piece(s). We will stay in San Francisco area for a few days, I will sell my bike (hopefully) and we will go back to real life.
To end, some statistics:
-Total Distance Cycled: 4900km (3045 miles)
-Flats: Marie = 5, Lucas = Lost count, around 15
-Days on the road: 62 (minus 5 days in Ohio)
-Number of Wheels used: Marie = 2, Lucas = 4 (I changed my back wheel twice...)
-Number of days ridden in the rain: basically 0

The road was wonderful, with lots of twists and turns, and it was obvious that some of the curves were just to prevent cutting down a massive redwood, as the trees sometimes encroached slightly onto the road. The redwoods really are massive, much bigger than anything we had ever seen before.

Redwood National Park was the last National Park we visited in California. It was the perfect grey weather to walk among the redwood trees and forest flowers. The trillium flower has three light purple petals and was hidden beneath the ferns.
... along the 14 mile road. The highlight was walking the trails through Stout Grove where some huge trees grew along the Smith River. You can't help but look up in continuous amazement as there is something new around every corner, something photos can't quite do justice. Words like "majesty" and "breathtaking" somewhat convey the feeling, but you have to be there under the ancient, towering canopy to really get it. On our first rainy day in weeks, ...
Fox had never understood just how large a tree could be. Trees she had quite taken for granted. After all, they had been all around during her formative years - to be climbed, to hide in, to sleep under, and even (for the very special tree with many closely spaced branches) to play tag in. However, these trees are different. They make a human diminutive in a way that is both humbling and exalting.
