... for the next French island. Personally I am sad that we missed out on the pleasure of Dominica. However that is just a good excuse to go back for a visit! It has been said that they have great rain forest walks! ... the route was being repaired and so there were replacement mini vans. Que waiting for another hour for the next 'bus'. This one took us half way to the next major town where we would change buses to get to the rain forest. piece by piece we were putting together the transport network of the island.

So two hour later we finally make it to the information point and the main entrance to the park of towering ...

... there is no shortage of choices for a walk. The La Soufriere volcano is a key attraction as are the many waterfalls, mountain lakes and hot springs. Some hikes are more strenuous than others, so Mum and Dad being mindful of my little legs chose a relatively easy waterfall hike. It still involved a decent climb down and up which I impressively managed. The water was refreshingly cold at the bottom which Dad enjoyed!

... as we wanted at another beautiful bay on the south of the island. We were also able to see the one and only very large 'Stop’ sign on the island. We drove past the miniature Sugar Loaf mountain, where apparently a maximum of thirteen people can fit on the beach, so you have to get there early to get a spot!

I really enjoyed seeing all of the goats and chickens. Our guide also advised that in the future, every house ...

Compared to other Caribbean islands that Mum and Dad have visited, Guadeloupe feels much more like being in France than being in the Caribbean. Guadeloupe is a archipelago of islands with the main islands being the large butterfly shaped island and four other smaller islands.
