    Rainy

A travel blog entry by dizzyseren on Aug 16, 2014

Oh my. It's raining. It sounds like the roof is going to fall in. Thunder and lightening. I have no clean clothes so I can't get wet.don't much fancy a day in hostel from hell either. I remember I have my welly boots and leave as soon as the rain settles. I have a brilliant lunch at the cafe I went to yesterday. Blt and a bowl of Thai green curry and also walnut cake. Very very good. The river has swelled to epic proportions. Even the ...

After a nice leisurely breakfast at our now favourite breakfast deli, we took the JR train for Osaka to Kyoto. It is an hour long ride on the usual train with quite a few stops along the way. Thankfully, it was a weekday late morning so I think we managed to avoid most of the crowd. Upon reaching Kyoto, we made our way to our hotel. The local Ryokan type hotel. Once again we missed the bus we needed by a second. When we finally caught the right bus 30 mins later - it was a Sunday after all - it was quite a long trip. It's a five minute walk from the bus stop to the temple and once you enter the grounds you are in a lovely garden. It was really quite busy today so they ...

    Izakaya

A travel blog entry by kahdrill on Aug 21, 2013

Wednesday, August 21st: Today I met up with Kōki-san to go grab a few beers and some food at a local traditional "diner"/"pub" or something like that. Difficult to say what it would be called in English but they serve various small dishes along with drinks. It was a few stations by train, but we got there before they had opened so we took a walk while we waited. I got to see a local university campus. I asked Kōki-san how ...

    Kiyomizudera temple

Thursday, June 27th: Today we visited a temple up in the hills. We did another walk through a completely dark tunnel in the temple, like in Nagano, but instead of a handle there was a lit stone to spin in middle of the tunnel. It was just an awesome experience as in Nagano.
Afterwards the sun came out and we bought some ice cream. Soft ice ...
