    Arrived in Clearwater at 530 and so glad to be out of the vehicle..raining thru Florida state but mild and muggy. Groceries purchased, tummies full with delicious chicken parmigiana sub at a local pizzeria, then drove over to our apt.

    ... being decreed traitors by the Cherokee nation government and banished from the tribal lands. This kicked off a Cherokee Civil War that lasted through the Civil War to 1867. Chief John Ross being the most powerful of the chiefs during this time.
    It's quite staggering, that so many people got displaced in the name of capitalism or greed. (Not anti capitalist here, it just shows you what happens when it's unchecked)

    ... Museum this afternoon.

    Nearby is the Willstown Cemetery which is where Cherokee Indians were buried after the mission had started. I'm guessing that the missionaries in this area were Scottish, given the names of the American Indians. There used to be gravestones, but they were all made of natural biodegradable material, so not here now.
