    The Suez Canal was, as they said it would be, heavy patrolled. There was a guard post every

    The Tour d'Afrique starts today! From our hotel a convoy of
    45 riders with police escort rode
    to the Great Pyramid of Giza for the official starting ceremonies and
    photo-ops. Took pictures of the pyramids and sphinx. Fended off numerous local
    guys dressed in mufti offering camel rides and currency exchange.

    Today was somewhat of a driving day as we had to make our way up towards the Suez canal for our crossing to Sinai.

    At the end of the day we stopped at St Paul's Monastery for a night camping. We were shown around the monastery and talked about how he live in the cave their for 90 years, and each day a crow brought him a loaf of bread.
