        166km with 429m of ascent.

Sun did make an appearance today as we arrived at the lunch truck (about 10am) - 70km done by then. Fantastic start to the day - down hill and with a tail wind. All the way to the Red Sea. Was what is called a MANDO day today. For anyone racing, they all start at the same time - 7.30am, and whoever gets to the finish post first wins. Usually by common consent they ride together as a peleton, losing people off ...

The Suez Canal was, as they said it would be, heavy patrolled. There was a guard post every
few hundred yards and a full military compound every few miles. I don’t know who poses the most threat, us on a cruise ship or their teenage boys with guns.

When we pulled into Port Siad on Wednesday afternoon it was very obvious that this was not a particularly safe place to be. There was ...

The Tour d'Afrique starts today! From our hotel a convoy of

to the Great Pyramid of Giza for the official starting ceremonies and
photo-ops. Took pictures of the pyramids and sphinx. Fended off numerous local
guys dressed in mufti offering camel rides and currency exchange.

Following the ceremony we remained in convoy with escort out
of the city to ensure no ...

Today was somewhat of a driving day as we had to make our way up towards the Suez canal for our crossing to Sinai.

At the end of the day we stopped at St Paul's Monastery for a night camping. We were shown around the monastery and talked about how he live in the cave their for 90 years, and each day a crow brought him a loaf of bread. The monks these days live in the monastery and every day hand carry up stones for the new monastery being ...

I stopped at a police check point today. I was going to ride of but they were checking every car and the police man had an AK he was waving around. They waved me over to the side but i thought they were waving me on so i started to ride of. They all started to scream in typical Egyptian style. Then the chief came out grunting passport, passport, passport. It took ...
