... br>The harbor and docking area are exquisite, and seem like they have remained the same for years. The locals don't want their small town to change, but it is changing, and they are accepting this fact graciously. They understand that tourism is starting to grow as an industry, which is no wonder to anyone who has visited the area. Experience Bar Harbor and see the best of the Eastern United States.

By chance the van was parked facing due east and we were awakened by a golden glow streaming through the curtain, what a welcome sight . . . sunshine.
With directions in hand we found an entrance to the carriage roads of Acadia National Park for today's bike ride. The carriage roads were a gift of John D. Rockefeller Jr ...
Cynthia and I flew out of Seattle on a red eye flight to Bangor, Maine via New York then Boston then Bangor. We picked up our rental car in Bangor then drove to Bar Harbour. We stopped at a tourist info centre to pick up some maps etc. The lady we talked to suggested that we drive into Acadia National Park then drive up to the Cadillac Mtn summit as the weather was going to change for the worse the next day. So off we went up the mountain ...
Bar Harbor, Maine, United States judymcdonald... very much like Key West with class. Lots of shops, restaurants, etc., and 3, count 'em, 3 cruise ships in the harbor. Busy, bustling, and very nice!
We ate at Stewman's Lobster pound, and it was great food, but the plastic silverware was a real turnoff for a pricey place. The whole experience; however, was great, and we had a wonderful time.
Tomorrow it is off to Kennebunkport, and more lobster.
... on our way to Halifax in Nova Scotia tomorrow. We will effectively leave USA and enter Canadian waters at around 3am tomorrow morning!

Off for a major USA themed party tonight in the nightclub... will be a bit like our wedding evening. Wishing we had bought some of the American flags!

... Petroleum), but was gifted back to the US/Canadians as an historical house that would be open to the public free of charge. The furnishings were all authentic to the Roosevelt’s, save for four pieces of furniture. We were all quite impressed with the house, and understood how they had come to love the Campobello Island.
We had lunch across the road at the Lupine Inn and Lodge. The food was quite good, and recommend it ...
... really hot on Saturday in Portland. After dinner we decided to walk back to the hotel. We stopped at an overlook during our drive around town. We saw some women digging for something on the shoreline. Nancy decided she wanted to ask what they were doing. She started walking on the slippery stones, and she did a half-gainer on the rocks and landed on her backside. We were frightened at first that this would be the end of our vacation, but she ...

... the lobsters. I wouldn't say the seafood is cheaper here, but definately caught today-fresh which is well worth it! As you can see from the picture, we did a good job cleaning it out! :) I wanted to see Timber Tina's Great Maine Lumberjack Show, but it was closed for the season!! :( It's supposed to be really good and Tina was a contestant on Survivor Panama even! http://www.mainelumberjack.com/
Southwest Harbor, Maine, United States dom_anna... But all was quiet and I took him back and helped him push his boat out and then went back to bed in the sme spot. Got up that morning about 6:22 rearranged things in the van. I spotted a red-tail hawk looking for fish and while I was watching him a deer came up the beach from the Jonesport direction. I walked out to the island and did my tai chi. Met a lady from ...
