Soweto, Gauteng, South Africa flolafol... day, Christmas in the sun, I don't know if I ever could get used to that! You forget its Christmas time here until you notice a huge Christmas tree sitting in the sun or you hear Christmas songs in the shops. The day & night were spent eating & drinking in the sun, it again was a great day in South Africa. Johannesburg has been amazing & I think we have forgotten how to rough it in the hostels! I'm sure it will come back to us though! Love Nic & Peace Rob
Johannesburg, South Africa robbiedinho... is breathtaking when you watch the sun set in a blaze of orange and inhale the gentle jasmine air. On Sunday it is the annual BMW International Polo Match at Inanda and evryone is caught up in what to wear and what, besides the Laurent Perrier Champagne should be packed in the picnic hamper. An all I really care about is getting a confirmation from the Health Hydro for as soon as possible ...
Johannesburg, Gauteng, South Africa travelqueen... was our phone call on our first night apart which reminded me of the days when we had a long distance relationship and how frustrating that often was. For the next four days I'd be focused on arranging our last required visa for Canada and wrapping up other issues like the dreaded yearly income tax returns while Inge-Marie had a packed schedule travelling around visiting friends and family and making some last minute arrangements before our departure. What I ...
Johannesburg, Gauteng, South Africa vine_hooligans(Jim) In South Africa, one becomes particularly mindful of the etymology of the word "politics", which comes from the Greek words "poli" meaning "many" and "tics" meaning "blood-sucking parasites". Enter Jacob Zuma, the Big Man. Zuma was a former Deputy President in the Thabo Mbeki government, removed amid allegations of corruption two years ago. He is an accused rapist, known sexual philanderer, with multiple ...
Johannesburg, South Africa oneyearaway... brekkie including boerewors, milkshakes and the strains of Richard Clayderman in background!, we headed off towards Etosha Pan to meet up with Jeffereys and the Hills.
Johannesburg, South Africa fosters4... to see if anyone would keel over after this heart unfriendly feast, no one did and so we continued on to another vineyard and more wine tasting. We drove to Signal Hill to have a look at the view over Cape Town and then started dropping people off at their hotels. This certainly cuts down on sad partings. As Lotta and I were staying in a hostel some distance away, we went to the Nomad offices and from there took a ...
Cape Town, South Africa pachi... looking for lions - bit scary - however the poor bloke sat on the front of the car with a torch looked like lion bait in the waiting, so I rationalised that if we got attacked I may have time to run for it. Unfortunately, we didn't see anything, but suspense of it made up for it. Next day was an all day drive and we saw loads! Giraffe, baby zebra (unusual at time of year), elephants and we came upon a pack of lions including a young male. It ...
Johannesburg, South Africa laird... game drive & a game walk! We saw giraffes, zebras, elephants and lions. It was surprising how close we could get. It was an amazing experience, I want to do it again! The game walk was a bit scary though, our guide carried a gun just in case but he only had one leg which was not very reassuring!
