An afternoon train at a civilised time, a novelty, continuing on through green fields and small villages, including Kalamazoo ! And so we arrive in Detroit that evening. Our 23rd floor hotel room, with great views of the downtown skyline, is in Greektown (taverna's, olives and Spanikopita !) and is attached by a walkway to the casino. The area appeals to people from an interesting range of humanity. The term XXL is the norm here, even XXXL is by no ...

This is where it all began and will ultimately end. Our first leg had us rolling out in the late afternoon after family assembled to party for 2 days and then send us off on the third. We saw Renata's aunt, Vicki, whom brought us a photo album. Her mom and Arnie (her mom's boyfriend) helped with the final touches on the Burro and many ...

On the seat is a personal pillow, blanket, eye mask and ear plugs . Being the snoop I am, ...

... to the DIA (hmmm.) 1 block from the Inn. After a snooze we get the shuttle to Cliffe Bell's jazz club. Great food, great music. Hard to believe on a Sunday night in Detroit.

And then it comes to me as I strike the keys recounting this romantic weekend – Gatsby! That is it. The quote is from Gatsby, and of course. The Ford House, 500 horsepower boats to get to the Rouge River plant, man made islands to launch his boat. The Casino of Belle Island, that wasn’t a ...

... It only took a few hours to complete. I named my penguin Peggy.

It rained pretty hard today as we were returning from our craft shopping. Some cars coming home from work on a freeway sent through a water puddle and stalled. Fortunately we didn’t have any problems other than getting soaked running from the car into the house.

God bless all my blog readers and all the folks who were out in the rain ...
