"Song of the Open Road" - Walt Whitman

... Home to the houses of men and women, at the table, in the bed-room, everywhere, Smartly attired, countenance smiling, form upright, death under the breast-bones, hell under the skull-bones, Under the broadcloth and gloves, under the ribbons and artificial flowers, Keeping fair with the customs, speaking not a syllable of itself, 210 Speaking of anything else, but never of itself. 16 ...

What did we just do?

... office hours. I am really starting to love them. I had my first New York audition. It was just like you hear about. I sat around for 6 hours, read for 2 minutes for the junior associate casting director's assistant's assistant (or so it seemed) and walked away. I get up every morning and get on the subway, which has lost its fun magical ride quality. Its no longer like riding the monorail in Disneyland and more like the smelly thing I get into to go places and ...

... thats why i chose to stop here, every one from NY seems to be traveling North for the weekend and everyone from Massachusetts heading South. This place is a little expensive but possibly worth it. I'm a little nervous about driving into New York Airport (LGA) but with a little luck maybe ill survive. Anyway I'm going to get a feed and head to bed, Cheers Rick

The Big Apple, and Texas friends and family

... so far. It was really cool to see many of the pieces I have been studying and admiring since high school.

Just walking around the streets of Manhattan is entertainment in itself. The seemingly endless rows of skyscrapers are quite a sight for a young guy from Texas, and there just seems to be a general feeling of high energy and excitement in the air. A friend told me one way to spot a tourist is to find someone rubbing their sore neck ...

New York was once New Amsterdam

... pictures that I took. While in NYC, we did get to enjoy some great Mexican (hooray!), American beer and pizza (hooray!), and American TV (hooray!). Joy used her massive clout in the New York entertainment culture to get us tickets to two Broadway plays. One, "Avenue Q", was an outstanding version of Sesame Street for underemployed twentysomethings. The other, "Intimate Exchanges", was more of a concept play where the entire play changes every night into ...

Across to New York

... and spent most of my time at the Mandalay Bay and Caesars Palace. Didn't do anything the first night. Friday i walked the length of the strip and back which took me 4hrs. When I got to the opposite end of the strip the last casino is Mandalay Bay and noticed there was a kenny Chesney concert on that night so got a ticket straight away. Waiting in the taxi line back at circus circus, the attendant told me if she could get seven people together we could get a limo for the same price ...

... off half the roads to pedestrians so that thousands of people spilled out onto the same streets, for reasons which i will never understand. However, we did catch the upper part of Big Bird's head. The rest of the parade we watched on TV from an Irish Pub next door to where it was happening... It was chucking it down with rain, and very windy, which meant that our umbrellas were taking us for walks rather than the other way round. We did the ...

Stamford Travel Day

... the local one in Lake Mary before we get to rest. There were 6 of us on the flight from Orlando to JFK. Those poor folks. By the time we got to the hotel they had enjoyed just about of much of me as they could stand. One hour waiting for the plane - 2 hours on the plane - 1 hour shuttle ride to the hotel. I kept everyone entertained with my travel stories and other's shared theirs'. I heard about some nice cruises and I have decided I simply must take one. I think I am one ...
