Courtyard By Marriott San Juan Miramar
Travel Blogs from San Juan
I was pretty tired from the long flight so I woke up late. I walked to El Morro which was only one mile away. It was free admittance so that was convenient. I listened to a park ranger and watched a quick video about the history of the fort. I found out that the fort had come under attack several times since its creation and that it has only been …
Part of the whirlwind tour idea yesterday was to include a visit to the Arecibo Radio Telescope, but with Visitor Center hours ending at 4:00, we didn't have enough time - a bit disappointing as this is one of those "nerd bucket list" locations like the Minuteman Missile site, Roswell, etc. Oh well, can't see everything all the time.We wanted to do …
Looking at a map, Puerto Rico is relatively small - at 100x35 miles, the total area is less than a normal person has to deal with in their day-to-day life. On the ground, however, the combination of (mostly) poor roads, frenetic driving styles, and mountains conspire to enlarge the island well beyond its physical size. We started the day with the …
After yesterday's rainforest hike, we decided to visit San Juan Viejo (the old town). Other than the two Spanish forts, we really didn't have a plan per se, just recommendations from Steve and the Lonely Planet guide. BTW - if you don't know or use Lonely Planet, you probably should - they rely on local sources (often residents) to lay out the …
We were up at about 4:30 so that we would have enough time to get the rental car turned in and have a slow ramp up to the third phase of our vacation - Dart and I going "solo" for our journey to the Caribbean islands of Puerto Rico, St. Thomas, St. John, and St. Croix. This is a part of the world that neither of us has been to (yeah, I know, …

Historical Traveler Reviews Courtyard By Marriott San Juan Miramar
Would Not Stay Again
I made sure to specifically ask for a double room/non smoking when I made the reservation and I had gotten confirmation that that room type was gaurenteed. However, when I got there, they were over booked and had to stay in a smoking room and only got $20 knocked off my stay. Not to mention the people at the front desk were not helpful. I tried getting simple instructions to the Bacardi factory and asked for them on paper, the lady replied that its easy, you dont need paper directions. The pool is a joke as it never sees sunlight because it is blocked by all the buildings. The AC in our room would not turn off so it was always freezing cold. The bathrooms are very small. Overall, nor would I or my company ever stay at this hotel again in the future when we visit Puerto Rico.
My husband and I just returned from vacationing in San Juan. We truly enjoyed our stayed at the Miramar. The staff members that we met were very pleasant and greeted us with welcoming smiles! We had a 10th floor room that was very clean along with the lobby and hallways! I know you don't stay in the lobby and hallways but first impressions do count! So for the price we were pleased.
Good Value Near Old San Juan
Stayed at this Courtyard pre-cruise for one night. Upgraded to a suite using points. Well worth the upgrade, but the hotel itself was in good condition and the staff was helpful. The Suite room was large and comfortable with a seperate sitting area. Large closet and small but well appointed bathroom. All in all a good deal for the money as well as location. Also the French resteraunt attached to the hotel has some very nice seafood dishes (pricey, but very good).
Such a Mistake
Just recently some friends and myself stayed at this HOTEL... Let me say that I was truley disappointed at the way the front desk personal in PARTICULAR "OSVALDO" of the night shilft...He would have a prblem bringing extra towels and sheets and would make us go downstairs to pick them up.. but that's not all... he also gave me attitude and was not very welcoming at all. Over all the hotel was clean and it's location is convenient... but after the fourth day I wanted to run out screaming because of the poor customer service. I am sad to say that this man made my stay at the hotel very uncomfortable and I would not reccommend people to stay at this hotel... I rather pay a bit extra and be treated as a paying customer!!!!! One tip for people... don't let pictures fool you!
Very nice place to stay.
I stayed at the Marriott @ Mirimar for my honeymoon. The staff was really nice. The valet parking is $12 a day but worth because parking on the street was impossible to find. During the day the staff is very helpful if you inquire about site seeing. The have a monitor in the lobby by the front desk that gives you all the hightlights of great tourist attractions. The rooms are very nice except for the bathrooms. In a regular room the bathrooms are very small, adequate but small. We were upgraded to a suite when they found out we were on our honeymoon. Very nice...the rooms are really nice and the bathrooms are much more spacious. This definetly a great place to stay and you are only minutes away from Old San Juan. :)
I just got back from a weekend at the San Juan Courtyard Miramar. I was concerned after reading the reviews of the Hotel Excelsior, which was the name of this hotel until it was renovated and became a Courtyard. I wanted to use points and this was the only hotel in San Juan that was available and didn't require a ton of points.
I stayed at the miramar for 2 days in march and it was great the staff friendly, the rooms were very clean. The miramar has pool, a restaurant and is within walking distance of stores and a short bus ride to old san juan. It doesnt have a beach but you can take the bus or a cab to the beach.
Come to puerto rico!!!!! happy travels
I know this is a newer Marriott property... with that said... we stayed in a junior suite (5th floor) and it was nice (with the exception of having to listen to the elevator go up and down all night). I travel a lot for business and was able to use my rewards, so "free" was good. Everything was freshly painted, the carpet was new, the mattress was nice and bedding was clean. The bathroom was nicely decorated, however the tub was very small, probably only 4 feet long. There is a pool, it is small and we didn't use it.
Just got back from a 4 night trip to Puerto Rico. We stayed at the Courtyard in Miramar for 2 nights because we wanted to stay in San Juan for a day and explore the city. Also, I used marriott points so it was free for us but from the price range i've seen online, it's a deal. Plus the location was great! It was about a $15 cab ride from the international airport. The hotel seems to have gone under a huge renovation as Marriott took over this hotel. Everything was new and spotless. The lobby was tastefully decorated and the people at the front desk were very very nice. They gave us great advice on places to eat, see and hang out. They pointed out a place 2 blocks down "Los Pinos Cafe" which is kind of diner-ish but the food was VERY reasonably priced and it was sooooooo delicious! Plus it's open 24 hours so it's a great place to go for midnight cravings. We had a king bed room and it was again very clean and with nice decor. The bathroom was brand new although a bit small. To get to Old San Juan, you can take a bus which is less than a block from the hotel and it takes you directly there for $0.75!!! The hotel also has 2 restaurants which are supposedly highly regarded. But we didnt eat there because we tried to spend as much time outside the hotel. Overall, it was a great stay and it made our time in san juan VERY comfortable!
Not bad for a quick getaway
ME and my Hubby just returned from San Juan,PR-I hate to say this but the beaches werent as good as they boast. We stayed at fairly decent Mariott Miramara on ponce de leon. The Italian restaurant in the lobby is awesome and quite upscale. All and all the best par tof our trip i thought was the El-Junqye rain forest and the Old san Juan (Boardwalk too).I love the atmospehere and ofcourse the food there.I guess we were so short on time never really made it to any beaches. The one we stopped by was all rocky with corals and a little trash too.On a Scale of 1- 10 I give our trip experience a 7.
