We say goodbye to Michigan, Ohio, Indiana and almost all of Illinois as we traveled west on I-80. Before leaving Indiana, we spent a couple of hours at the Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore - part of the National Park System. ... much like the Science Center in Toronto. There were tons of hands on activities and experiments and ************e else there. We picked up a family pass that gives us entry into 290 other centers across the States so we are set for the rest of the trip. We watched an Imax movie called the Last Reef then picked up some groceries and had a nice homemade dinner on the Mississippi!

As we drove closer to our destination, a nice little cottage on the Mississippi River, the skies clouded over again and the weather reports called for “flash floods” and thunderstorms all night. Very glad to be in a cabin instead of a tent tonight:).
We did a site change, went out for dinner, had a glass of wine (well Carson didn’t), and went to bed. Temperatures are much colder now........

In Bettendorf we rode down Main Street and that’s about all we saw. It was not one of the more interesting cities and it was the smallest of the four.
