    ... we will usually change our route to incorporate it. Always been worth it so far. Some of the houses along Lake Michigan were so large and opulent - mansions. Along the beaches, there were lots of people taking advantage of the good weather. The water in Lake Michigan is very very cold though we did see a few people swimming. These lakes are so huge - I guess that's why theya re called the Great Lakes. Ha Ha. It's like most things, knowing and seeing can be 2 very diffferent ...

    Jim and I enjoyed a great send-off by the family at the airport in Milwaukee on Tuesday as we prepared to depart for our six-month assignment in Bamako, Mali, West Africa.     I'm not sure when that whole thing changed for me. I'm pretty sure now that there's no piece of jewelry too big or too gaudy!
