    Taking Off

A travel blog entry by billyb63 on Oct 03, 2014

Today is the day! Jonathan, Keith, Charlie and I are heading to the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina. Jonathan and I did some grocery shopping last night and all I have to say is we are set in the snack department. Dropping Baxter off at Pet Paradise this morning was, as usual, a little sad. He didn't fuss but I got "The Look" as he rounded the corner out of my view. I am picking up the van at 12:30 after work then off we go! Stay tuned for more interesting posts and ...

Very stormy day in Charleston, SC today (and for the last 3 days in a row); and forecasted to be stormy right through Wed. So making today a driving day!!!

Charleston is affectionately known as "the low country", because the streets pretty much flood and close down whenever it rains an inch or more. Brilliant.

When I first mentioned adopting a child, mom wasn't ...

... help planning this trip! Anxiety has been sinking in knowing that she will not be with me to ask random people for directions and navigate around each city (even though we got lost plenty of times, haha). So the itinerary for our 2 week Europe vacation begins on Saturday the 12th in Berlin, moves to Prague, Munich, Venice, Siena (Tuscany) and then finishes in Rome. 3 countries, 6 cities in 2 weeks, it is going to be a whirlwind vacation but we can not wait for the adventure to ...

Into the land of the Alligator and Swamps

Year 2, Day 129 - Today we ventured into the Okefenokee Swamp. Unfortunately the weather was not the greatest, but we stuck around and went to the park museum and took a ride around the property, walked to an old homestead (the Chesser Island Homestead), and then when the weather finally broke and the rain stopped, we are able to get out on a tour of the swamp. We saw several alligators, and ...
