... the Kentucky Horse Park and Ironworks Pike; Corbin, the birthplace of KFC, as well as Berea, home of Kentucky arts & crafts. We really enjoyed the Interstate perspective of the Elk Valley, Tennessee, which we’d driven in February as we passed the highest elevation of the trip and we started our descent to Florida. Drove through Knoxville ...

What a hellish night! We were kept awake from about 1am till 5am by people laughing, running down the hall, talking loudly, honking car horns, yelling, slamming doors etc.
Turns out a sports team from Savannah State University had arrived and the teenagers (who were of age and old enough to know better) would not co-operate with either the security guard (who spent all night going up and down the 4 floors telling them to go to bed ...
... was some kind of rainbow thing, and I was some combination of country girl/Miley Cyrus.
There was a costume contest, and both Malorie and the boys came in 2nd. Malorie lost to this amazing chick dressed a Mystique... or not so dressed as the case may be. The boys lost to a lesbian couple dressed a Jon and Kate plus 8... she had the bad hair and 8 baby dolls sewn to her clothes.
Happy Halloween!!!!
... P.E.T.A. & P.E.T.A. supporters, please don’t leave me nasty comments. That part about flatulence was written completely tongue-in-cheek.)
But…that attempt to psyche myself out isn't working as well as I’d hoped. I’m starting to feel just a teensy bit overwhelmed.
We are ...
... For like 8 weeks.
In the meantime, we begin the process of deciding what of our junk amazing stuff goes with us (there’s a weight limit), what stays here in storage, and what we’ll get rid of before we leave. That’s probably the most important thing we can do in the upcoming weeks. So now you know where to find me over the next 3 months.
Peace.

I love checking out the kitchens and seeing how small the stoves are and how little storage room there was. The inventiveness and hardworking ethics kept this plantation growing and ...

The movie Fried Green Tomatoes was filmed in Juliette converting the old General Store into the Whistle Stop Cafe for the story to take place. This is where the mean and nasty Bennet was taken after ...
... Music Hall of Fame where all of the great names in music to eminate from the state are honoured. It is an impressive list, even to us two, largely musically naive, Europeans. Otis Redding, Little Richard, Ray Charles and James Brown exported their grooves from Georgia to the rest of the country and the globe. So did the B-52s, REM and Usher. What a shame that there is no more music in the streets of Macon - but still, it was a fascinating place to stop for the night.
Macon, Georgia, United States lauravanwaas... remake myself for better or for worse. Some people travel to "get away" and use it as a cradle for false identities. For me, however, travel tends to enhance truer ones! So...I suppose travel reaffirms goodness, and returns me to my home country rejuvenated and ready to once again live life with passion and with concern for others (not only while abroad--but at home as well). "Travel, at heart, is just a quick way of keeping our minds mobile and awake."
