... the trams around the city.
Monday - day trip to Sintra
Tuesday - roam around the city some more then fly to Terceira, Azores (4 hours ahead of Louisville time).
I'll be in the Azores from 9/8 through 9/17 for work. Only thing on the agenda (other than my pesky job) for right now is a half day whale watching tour on ...
A short walk from the hotel lead us to the Louisville Convention Center and my first Kentucky Starbucks. I made it a mocha since it doubled as my breakfast. I asked the barista if they carried city mugs and he replied with a slight southern tang, "Nope. Small market."
Right.
... Caddy.
We then ventured over to the "hip side of town" and visited Lynn's Paradise Cafe. A busy destination spot, to be sure, but Lynn's was well worth the wait. It's tacky and eclectic and the wait staff are Kentucky's finest punk hippy kids--in short: awesome with veggie options. I had the vegetarian biscuits and gravy and my first ever plate of fried green tomatoes.
With two 8 hour days of work remaining before our trip I find it increasingly hard to focus and stay on task...there are still a couple of loose ends to tie up before leaving and I find myself obsessing about them while working. I've made most of my miscellaneous purchases. But I still have to put together our travel binder and figure out how to combine my clothes and personal items into one small carry-on piece of ...
Louisville, Kentucky, United States whoisjohngalt... Don't worry though... if you don't want to sign up for the military you don't have to do participate.
A word of warning: the Kentucky side is always packed. And the closer you are to the Great Lawn, the drunker the people are. So if you have a family, stay away from the great lawn. If you want a quieter version of the Thunder proceedings, head over to the Indiana side. Come on... It's just across the river! And you get the same show! Just with out all of the hustle and bustle of ...
... Indiana and Illinois. We had a great day of driving with no major delays anywhere along our route. We managed to get in 13 hours of driving which put us in Clarksville, IN just across the Ohio River from Louisville. There are no photos with this entry because there really was no place to easily stop and take pictures particularly with the rain. I hope, however, that the description is enough to have you create your own pictures in your mind.
Oh the wonders of nature and nature-stream restoration projects I volunteer on. Bernheim offers an abundance of programs for schools and families that educate and allow you to help conserve some nature!
Also, this park has many, many hiking trails. Yay hiking! We all know how much I love that. :)
... a week. But if you go after 8PM be prepared to wait at least 10 minutes to get a table. It's totally worth it between the food, hookah, and atmosphere.
Wicks Pizza: Louisville's best pizza place. L-ville has a lot of pizzaria's. But wicks is the best. Nice big portions, with amazing ingredients. Plus, reasonably priced! I highly suggest it.
... one of the coolest places. Mitchell is a small town. During the Lewis and Clark Expedition, the town was insulted when L&C said nothing would grow in the area. They built a Corn Palace decorated on the outside and inside with real corn and prairie grasses. They use the facility for sports and other entertainment events. The inside murals relate to the Indians and pioneers and the final reconciliation ...
