Poughkeepsie, New York, United States sunaddict2Hello:
We arrived home after a gratefully uneventful trip from Lake Como. We returned the rental car we used to drive from Newark back to Woodstock, shopped a bit, and returned home. It was a sensational trip, and we hope that those of you who read the blog enjoyed reading about our exploits. Lake Como is surely as close as we have ever come to paradise, and ...
Can anyone suggest an all inclusive resort off the east coast of the US for myself and family (wife and 2 sons 11 and 13), would like if possible to get there by a short cruise from NY or NJ. Would like to spend 1-2 days on ship and 4-5 days at resort, and maybe fly back to US. Can go anytime from March thru July2010. The family has never been to an island resort or on a cruise, thanx for any info
Amenia, New York, United States wthomas69... We might venture back into Switzerland, possibly heading as far north as St Moritz for a second attempt to get to that town perched very high (10,000 feet) in the Swiss Alps, as it is only a 2 hr ride north, northeast from Varenna. The first time we hit a snowstorm and had to turn back !! We'll keep you posted. Hopefully we will get the chance to practice the Italian that we are learning in our weekly Italian class - thank you Gabrielle !
Woodstock, New York, United States alanjgreenhalghNever having traveled in New York state outside of Manhattan, I was dazzled by the natural beauty of rural New York. (Of course, my encounter with a roadside frozen coffee drink hut right over the state line didn't hurt my first impression either.) I had registered for a 3-day zen meditation retreat in the Catskills months ago, and was looking forward to it, but also hoping that I would be up to the challenge. John found a beautiful camping ...

It's a whirlwind trip ~ & now I know what holidays were like for Mike growing up. Judy's place is modern & homey, and I'm ashamed to say I crashed on the loveseat due to jetlag in the midst of the Burns family get-together : / Still, Judy's a helluva hostess and served up some righteous viddles.
... on Route 9, crossing the Hudson River via the Franklin D. Roosevelt Mid-Hudson Bridge. By now the fog had lifted and the sun had come out but it was still bitterly cold. The KOA is situated just on the edge of Catskill Park, about 10 miles away from Woodstock. On the way there, we debated whether it was the Woodstock. (Neil didn’t reckon it was, but Mel was pretty certain it was and had to find it on Wikipedia later in the day to prove it!)

... write. At that time, the title of this entry was going to be "Terror and Delight." But that would mean that I'd have to explain how, a few times, I acutely aware of my mortality. That's a fancy way of saying that I thought I was about to splat. I'm not going to get into that, though, because my choice of hobbies already worries my mom enough as it is. And really, the number of ...
New Paltz, New York, United States globehugger... The climb seemed to last forever, as each bend in the road, once rounded, revealed another long climb steeper than the last. It was a gorgeous ride, through a pine and spruce forest, with a section through Railroad Canyon where the canyon provided just enough room for the road. Di spotted a religious statue in a niche high up on the canyon wall. We both wondered how it possibly could have been put there, it was so high. We stopped ...
