We set out in foot for the 2 mile journey into town, seeing some of the real New Orleans - very poor, very run down and certainly very unfriendly to pedestrians! Had some drinks in the French Quarter, including a very nice microbrew and the classic 'hurricane' slushie. Zoals al gezegd is de chronologische volgorde een beetje verlaten, maar we lunchen vandaag in de 'Kewanee 1 Stop', een echt truckerscafe met een 'vette bek'-keuken en een tandeloze serveerster. ... didn't disappoint! It wasn't long until we saw our first look at a swamp turtle, and we were in real luck because that was followed shortly with our first sighting of a alligator! This alligator was not at all shy neither! It came straight up to the boat and wasn't afraid of the people in it! The Tour guide said that we are safe, however you wouldn't want to get on the wrong side of this animal!
